As the bell rang indicating that my fourth class had come to an end, all of the students rushed out into the hall to mingle with their cliques about their weekend and such. On my way out, I bumped into someone and immediately apologized. Lara Hills shyly smiled at me and walked away. Lara was overweight, probably by at least 50 pounds. That's why my mother never let me hang out with her in elementary school. I half smiled at her as she walked away, and then I continued on my way to my fifth class. As I was about to enter Mr. Jones's class, Tony Hartly stepped in front of me.
"Hey chicken legs, what are you doing on this side of the street?" Tony's group of assholes laughed.
I tried to shove past Tony, but as soon as I did he pushed me against the wall outside of the class room. His face was inches from mine and his breath smelled like marijuana.
"Awe don't get your hopes up, anorexia isn't my type."
"Let me go, Tony." I said through gritted teeth.
"Or else what?" His smile was twisted and reminded me of those old guys who smile at children at the park.
"I'll rat you out for coming to school stoned."
That shut him right up and he let me go. I walked past him and some one in his group decided to trip me. And in a flash, my bookbag somehow opened and my books were everywhere. Mr. Jones walked in as I was repacking my bag, eyeing me suspiciously. I quickly stuffed my now unorganized bookbag and sat in the back of the class. Mr. Jones began his lesson on the human anatomy as I dug through my bookbag trying to find my notebook. As I was feeling around, something moved in the bottom of my bag. Not wanting to draw attention to myself I peeked in my bag. My eyes grew wide as I layed my eyes upon the largest rat I had ever seen before in my entire life. I silently panicked to myself after realizing that Tony stole the class rat and put it in my bag. I looked over at Tony and his group of assholes as they were quietly laughing and looking at me.
Ms. Linnen? Is something wrong? Mr. Jones was staring at me.
"No sir." I said almost too quickly.
He returned to his lecture and I zipped my book bag closed to keep the rat from escaping.
I scribbled down notes in my notebook as the class went along and also wrote down some ideas of how I could possibly return the rat without getting caught and in trouble.
The bell suddenly rang and I waited for the others to leave.
"Are you staying for study hall?" Mr. Jones asked me.
"Um, yes. I think I need to recap over my notes." I lied. I remembered every word he said in his lecture.
"Alright well when you are finished, please lock the door."
I nodded and he left for lunch. I ran to the door and checked to make sure he had left and I shut the door. I quickly put the rat back in its cage. I gathered my things and locked the door on my way out of the classroom. I bumped into someone. It was someone tall and definitely not a girl. I figured it was Tony back for more pranking. I turned around to see it was a new face. He looked mean. With a peircing in his eyebrow and black hair that covered his forehead.
"Get out of my way, skinny ass."
Well that was just as unpleasant as he looks. I quickly walked away with my head down, feeling the new kids glare on the back of head. This day was going to hell.
