Zaira's POV
I arrive at my new haven and order my luggage to be taken to the 12th floor. The birds' chirping draws my attention, and I'm spellbound by the serene cotton candy clouds enveloping us as if to say, "Stare at me for all you will, for I shall always protect you and provide a picturesque sight forever."
Sometimes I find it hard to figure out whether such things are actually speaking their mind or if I am the lost wanderer listening to my brain speaking.
"Are you always this lost, Zaira?"
I break free from my thoughts and notice Jimin laughing at me. His luggage is behind him, being carried to our flat. Feels weird saying "our flat," but it is what it is.
"Nah, I was wondering why you are always so late."
"Excuse me, young lady-when was I ever late?"
"Like always? Joon told me you guys have a way of saying that if you 'Jimin' today, it means you're going to be late. Surely that joke didn't rise out of nowhere, cycle guy."
"Joon is messing with you. Ignore him and focus on me."
"Excuse me, wha-"
"Oh, such a lovely couple! Are you the new tenants on the 12th floor?" an old lady kindly asks us.
"No ma'am, we're not a cou-"
"The new 12th floor tenants, that would very much be us," Jimin pushes me and smiles at the lady.
He could be so annoying at times. I was wrong in judging him on our first few meetings.
We finally make our way up to the apartment, juggling boxes and suitcases as we walk through the hallway. Jimin fumbles with the keys and after what feels like an eternity, we enter our new flat.
As I enter, I'm embraced by the scent of locked room and rusty furniture. Looks like there's a lot of cleaning to be done and room freshner to be sprayed. The place is a mess of boxes, but the potential is there.
We start unpacking in different rooms, occasionally bumping into each other and making small talk like,
"Ohh nice cup!"
"You've read that book too?"
"Is that a hello kitty themed towel?"
After seeing me unpack the same box for the longest, Jimin finally asks, "So, how many books do you actually have?"
"Enough to build a fortress. And you?"
"Look for yourself", he moves away proudly showing off his organized stacks of books.
"Impressive cycle guy! But hey I was thinking we can share the corner room to keep our books as it already has shelves. What do you say?"
"Sure Zaira! We can do that."
We share a laugh and continue working, the awkwardness gradually fading. As the hours pass, the mess starts to look more like a home.
I notice Jimin wearing a paper crown that he just took out from a box and taking a selfie and I laugh to myself looking at his sillyness. Maybe I was too loud because he turned towards me and gave me a funny look and said,
