Nine years later ...
"How many fucking times do you have to tell you to get this right?!" I violently snap out. "Do you understand how valuable this is. five thousand people will bid on this and you are not able to create a design that would you know, sell?" I say in a calmer tone this time.
Her face remarks of tears blemishing her eye lids but she does not flinch at all listening to my taunts like a lady should. I never did those things in my lady days but Ma definitely put some sense in me about being a "lady".
I sigh deeply ordering her to sit while pointing towards the chair in front of my desk before sitting on mine. she does obey sitting down on the chair but she does not stop scratching her hands and holding her designs tighter in her grip.
"I'm sorry mam I'll renew the designs in the leastest amount of time possible. Does thst work for you?" Her voice is hoarse and cracky through her question showcasing a cowering feeling in her voice.
It doesn't work for me but looking at her condition it's her first mistake or no one would be as terrified as her. I am not scary but I can be rude if my work is not done properly and on time.
I sigh resting back on the chair with my hands and legs folded. "What is your name?" I ask with a gentle voice that may or may not will comfort her.
When she doesnt reply I take the files of designs from her hands keeping them beside me looking at her.
"You want water, you can have it. But tell me your name." I ask more commandingly this time.
"Asania." She mumbles softly and now her tears are visibly leaving markings of liner as they fall down her chin to her lap. She takes the glass of water from my desk and drains it down swatting her tears away from her cheeks. "Mam can I get my stuff back? I have to work on the designs."
I lean in closer, "listen darling, you're new that's why im telling you this for th first and last time. I shout at everyone who fuck up and you look at my while I speak to you Asania. Don't give me chances to throw you out of here. Work better next time. You may go now." I hand her the file back after throwing my rules on her. Well they aren't rules cause everyone knows them already and it's not needed but she is an emotional soul I see.
My phone rings in my pocket as she walks out of the door and I pull it out to answer it.
"Hey, anything you need? I'm at work right now." I look at my watch to check the time and it's not to late to leave from here. Well, it's never too late for some vodka.
God I can't even have that. My phone buzzes on the desk killing my thoughts right then and there.
Fuck.
I take a look at the ID to find an 'Unknown' caller.
"Nothing. Just wanted to ask you, drinks tonight?" Her question doesn't pass through my brain before a message buzzes on the phone kept in front of me.
Holy shit, holy shit. I take a look at the message and instantly turned the phone around.
"I'll call you when I'm free, M. Bye." I reply hanging up as soon as I can and instantly pulled my keyboard towards myself keeping the phone aside.
Father has always kept things from me but I have never needed such things like ever. Never until I was threatened to death to get it.
He left me bad connections to this world. Really bad ones.
My phone rings and I look at the ID which says 'Dominico' and i bring it to my ear.
"Dom. Is that guy fucking crazy? I'm getting calls on my work phone. This is not casual for work." I keep typing my keys on the laptop in agitation. "I swear to God, I'll cancel the fucking deal if this man doesn't stop."
