Six weeks into the mission, you and Katya were in the office finalizing the details of the masquerade ball, courtesy of the Petrovna empire, of course. Katya came up with this idea in lieu of Fashion Week, she told you that she usually attends the said event but because of the mission you both are on at the moment, she decided to throw her own.

"So, the ballerina ice sculpture here?" she asked you as she marked a spot on the floor plan of the venue she picked for the event, "Surrounded by white peonies and lillies? Or pink roses? What do you think, [Y/N]? Да? Нет?" (Translation: Yes? No?)

"Katya, isn't this too lavish? I mean, we're only doing this as a sting operation, aren't we?" you asked in whispers.

"Not really, [Y/N]. And we won't really consider this as that. I would like you to think of it as a party where you can enjoy yourself. It would be beneficial for us to just observe. I mean, for now," she gave you a small smile.

"I've only got six more weeks to this mission, Katya. I can't mess up. You know that. I've already told you what my concerns were from the start. I don't want them to dispense me then chase me afterwards. I don't want to put you in danger either."

"Danger is my middle name, милый (darling). Don't worry too much about me. I'm a big girl. I can handle myself. Besides, if it is any consolation, they have dispensed me, yet here I am. Am I not? They have not really bugged me until now, to continue this mission with you. Although, I don't really mind, crossing paths with you was one of the best things that has ever happened to me," she said grabbing your hand, giving it a long, gentle kiss.

"Your middle name is Petrovna, woman," you sassily retorted as you stroke her cheek, "I love you, Katya. I just wish this would be over soon."

"And when it is over? It doesn't stop here for you. If you finish the mission, then there will be another one then another after that. It is never-ending. Will you stay here in Russia with me if this mission ends? I would assume that the answer is no. Да? (Yes?) Do you really want this over as soon as possible? You have just stated that you love me, yet you want to leave as soon as you can," Katya replied with a stoic expression as she let go of your hand.

You decided to bite your tongue despite whatever it is you wanted to say. You didn't know how to express yourself at the moment. You felt a tight sensation in your chest, you didn't want to hurt Katya's feelings, but you didn't want to make promises you can't keep either. You wanted to tell her that you'll stay and that you won't ever leave her side no matter what, but that would in fact be a lie because you do know that whatever she had just told you was true. Your profession is a never-ending feat; once this mission finishes there will be another case to solve for you and the agency you work for. Of course, that would depend on whether you could successfully fulfill this one first.

"Your silence kills me, [Y/N]. It hurst my heart. I know that coming to Russia is only a part of your mission. I understand that you can't stay if everything goes accordingly. Falling for you was not a part of my plans either as it just made things more complicated than they already are. You do not need my help in fulfilling this mission, [Y/N], I need your help to end this all."

"Katya, I do need you. What are you on about? What do you mean? Am I having a stroke, or did you just really say what you did? You need my help doing what exactly?" you rolled your eyes, "if you're trying to sarcastically affirm me or taunt me then you really are succeeding because that's once good way to make me angry."

"You will understand in time, моя любовь (my love). I apologize if I may have offended you, but I don't mean for such a thing to happen. I am not being sarcastic nor am I taunting your skills as an agent. I am simply telling you that I need your help. I will explain things better as soon as this masquerade ball is over. There are things about me that you should know. I do love you too, милый (darling), and I want for you to know who I am completely, regardless of what the outcome may be."

Your brows furrowed but decided to just agree on what Katya was saying. You know her well enough by now to know that she is always honest and sincere. Katya's words are her bond as she says, and you believe her. You smiled at her and gave her a quick kiss on the lip, "let's continue planning and finalizing this so you can finally let out whatever cat it is you've got in your bag. Okay?"

She nodded as she smiled back at you, "Спасибо, любимый (Thank you, my love). The world is full of bad things and my heart is full of worries and doubts, but in saying that, I am also filled with hope that you will accept me no matter what. I know that your love is pure and simple, I know that it is real. On my part, I can assure you that I feel the same way about you, детка (babe). Ты солнечный свет в моем лунном свете," she said as she tucked a strand of your hair behind your ear. (Translation: You are the sunshine to my moonlight)

"White and red roses, darling. I think it suits the theme perfectly," you cooed in response to her prior question.

"You've got great eyes for themes and colours, [Y/N]. Are you sure you are not after Katya's job?" she raised a brow at you as she smirked.

"I mean, if Katya is pawning off her job. I say why not?" you tried to keep straight face as Katya's jaw fell open but you couldn't help but fall into a pit of laughter. She just rolled her eyes at you as she shook her head. She flashed you a smile afterwards before you both kept planning the final details of the event.
