Aquila is sitting on his bed, it's about 7:22 am. Aquila stares at the floor trying to remember last night in his head, it all feels like a blur to Aquila but he remembers the fear he felt when the man rushed at gale and the tension that transpired after the events of that night. Aquila stands up and walks into his kitchen, he opens the pantry and makes a box of cereal. He finishes breakfast then gets into the shower, while in the shower he stares at the wall for the majority of it, recalling what happened to Gale once again. He feels like he shouldn't care as much as he does. Him and Gale just became friends again, but what happened was his fault after all. Before the incident however Gale and Aquila had been friends since High school but didn't talk for a few years after Aquila while drunk got with Gale's girlfriend, it tore Gale apart and he took his anger on Aquila beating him up till he was barely able to move. Gale's now ex however wasn't drunk at the time and knew what she was doing, after painting Aquila as the bad guy of the situation she used the situation to get Gale to distance himself from his friend group. After a second situation of Gale finding out his ex was cheating they broke up, Gale soon wanted to reach out to Aquila again but his pride always got in the way, Tomasi knew this and kept trying to get them to hangout with each other but Gales pride was always the biggest obstacle in this situation. Aquila constantly beat himself up for what he did, swearing that he would one day make up for what he did to Gale, one day he would be able to redeem himself yet he felt like he never could. Aquila gets out of the shower and dries off, he checks his phone for any messages from Tomasi or Gale but nothing yet, he looks over to his clock to read 7:58 am, he gets dressed and starts walking to the hospital to hopefully check on Gale's condition.
Tomasi is laying in bed, his alarm going off as he tries to shut it off. Tomasi starts to wake up and remembers last night in an instant and shoots up, he turns over to his alarm to check the time but it's only 8:01, he gets up and rubs his eyes and walks to the bathroom where he looks at himself in the mirror for a minute with a tired stare. Tomasi checks his phone for any messages but swipes past all of the notifications in hope some form of update from Gale is there but he then remembers Gale probably isn't conscious, Tomasi texts Aquila "Hey man wanna head to the hospital soon?" to get a text back about 3 minutes later "Already almost there, come quick", Tomasi runs out the door to try and get to the hospital in time but on his way a purple flash catches his eye, taking him off guard, Tomasi looks in the direction of the sudden flash to see people walking as usual and no signs of anything abnormal so he picks back up the pace and eventually gets to the hospital to see Aquila already in the waiting room. "Hey, any update on Gale?" Tomasi asks Aquila, trying not to sound too scared. "Not yet, visiting hours don't start for another 15 minutes at 8:30 so we still have a bit to wait." Aquila says quietly, trying not to disturb the others in the waiting room. "A-alright then" Tomasi says just under his breath, Aquila could barely understand what he said but sat down anyways with Tomasi following, 18 minutes pass and a nurse walks down the hall calling Aquilas name. "Hey yeah that's me" Aquila stands up as he talks. "So Gale regained consciousness about 20 minutes ago. He will no longer be able to see out of his left eye due to the wound being almost fatally deep. Please be careful to not make any loud disturbances around him or in the hospital in general and a cop will be here shortly to take a statement from Gale, please proceed down the hall to your right He's in room 16." The nurse walks away almost immediately after saying that as Tomasi and Aquila head down the hall to room 16 where they see Gale with bandages wrapping his left eye and while his right eye is just staring at the ceiling. Gale's eye moves to the door where he sees Aquila and Tomasi walk in, He sits up slightly. "Jeez Gale you scared me, thought I was gonna lose you there" Tomasi laughs while saying that but it's clearly covering up how scared he was to lose Gale. "Yeah.. I was really worried for you man, I'm glad you're okay, do you know when you can leave?" Aquila asks, Gale looks at them with a very deadpan face. "I don't know when I get to leave. I hope soon though..." Gale's face returns to staring at the ceiling, the fan above him running creating a faint whirring noise. "So will your eye be okay?" Aquila asks, Tomasi nudges him, Aquila already forgot the nurse told him no, Gale stares at the ceiling for a moment before responding. "She said I won't be able to see out of it again, the knife hit the back of my eye destroying my optic nerve."
Gale sighs looking up at the ceiling, a knock on the door strikes and Aquila and Tomasi turn around to see 2 cops enter wearing regular uniform, one female, brown hair medium length in a ponytail with brown eyes. One male with his hair not visible due to his police cap with green eyes. "Hi, we're here to speak to Gale, guessing he's the one behind you two?" The female officer walks between Aquila and Tomasi to Gales bed while the male officer stands by the door. "Alright I'm gonna need a recap of last night in your own words, spare no detail." The female cop takes out a notebook and gets her pen ready, she looks back down to Gale and gives a look that just says "talk" "My memory is a bit spotty as I was drunk but I remember being behind the bar. Me, Tomasi and Aquila were just messing around when this man, he had a very deep and gargly voice, he knocked me on the ground almost immediately, he was asking for a stone i had found earlier that day on my walk, when i gave it to him he said something about taking what isn't yours then stabbed me, from there it's all a blur." Gale's gaze doesn't move from the ceiling, his voice still a bit shaky, the female cop writes everything down before pausing. "Wait, can you give me a description of this stone?" She questions him
"It was a deep purple stone, a bit rounder in shape, it was shiny and had a few edges to it." The female cop nods while Gale finishes describing it. "Alright that will be it unless you want to add anything, we will contact you with further questions if needed." The cops both leave the room and the nurse walks in, her shoulder getting bumped by the male cop. "Hi Gale, I thought I should update you on your current state. Are your friends being here okay with you for this?" The nurse asks Gale. "Yeah it's fine." Gale still stares at the ceiling. "A-alright, well I checked with the Head doctor and he said that you should be fine to leave within a few days but when you're out to take it slow as you will have a blind spot not being able to see somethings now. You can get a glass eye, there are other options like eye patches too but you'll have a bit to decide that as your bandages will need to stay on for a few week-" The nurse is interrupted by Gale taking off his bandages with a slight frown, the nurse stares at Gale with a shocked expression, the bandages are off and it reveals a deep wound in his left eye that seems to have healed faster than it should've, the wound starts just above his eyebrow and goes down until the top of his cheek, a slight purple hue can be seen on the recovering skin but it's passed off as simple bruising. "I'm fine to leave now." Gale says while sitting up in the hospital bed, his slight frown still showing, the nurse has a fearful expression. "N-no Gale you cannot leave yet! You are not in good condition at all!" The nurse, filled with shock and fear tries to convince Gale but he seems set on leaving. "I am fine, please don't worry." Gale sits up and has a calm smile now, he stands up and walks towards the door past Aquila and Tomasi, he looks back at them. "Come on guys." Gale smiles and waves his hand as he walks out, the nurse just stands there as they leave, Tomasi snickering a bit as he walks out. "Gale, you never fail to impress me." Tomasi smiles. "So sorry for all of this" Aquila says to the nurse and follows Tomasi and Gale out of the room. They walk outside and the sun hits Gales face, his wound more visible now, the slight purple tint to it catches Tomasi's eye but he doesn't say anything, instead he enjoys the warm morning sun as it they look up into the sky, an eagle fly's high in the sky alone, and unwavering. As Gale looks into the sky, at the eagle, He smiles "It could be so much worse"
