Meera walked inside the door as the housekeeper closed it with no noise at all. She turned towards the housekeeper, only to find her gone. Narrowing her eyebrows, she turned around. The hallway was dark which gave her the chills, she took slow steps towards the stairs but stopped midway through when the lights turned on.
Come on Meera
"Where were you?!", the voice of Dhruv daunted through the living room as Meera froze seeing him standing by the stairs. "I had... a lo-t of w.ork in co-llege"
She looked down as she felt him getting nearer to her, "Why are you lying sweetheart.". She gasped as she felt his hand tug on her tightly.
"Who was that guy, Meera?", his voice slow but deadening, he with his other hand cupped her face.
"Which... guy?", she tried wiggling out of his grasp while his nose flared up in anger.
"Try again", he whispered looking at her with a glare but a smirk which made her feel vulnerable.
"You are misunderstanding it... I go- ". Before she could complete a sentence, she was pushed away and within a matter of a second, a burning sensation lingered on her cheek and tears clouded her eyes.
"Don't you dare do that mistake of lying to me, Meera. You were with Reyansh, weren't you?", she looked at with large eyes while one hand was still placed on her cheek; trying to soothe the pain.
"How did you know?", she whispered out as he went forwards towards her, yanking her by the arm.
"I know everything about you, you can't lie to me", he uttered as he made her sit on the couch.
He crouched on the floor by her feet as he leered up at her that made her tremble, "How was he? Does he make you feel good?"
"What do you mean Dhruv? He is my best friend", she said. His hand trailing up to her neck and compressing his hold. "Okay I am sorry, I am sorry..."
She breathed out totally confused by his behaviour, one second, he is ready to hurt her but the other second, he is talking to her so normally.
"It is just that since college you have given him all your attention, I thought maybe after marriage, you would look at me. But you still have eyes for him, don't you??" he straightened himself, peering at her intensely.
"I don't have eyes for him, he is my childhood best friend. He is someone who's been there for me through my thick and my thin. I can't just ignore him after the marriage because he's very dear to me and he will always will be"
She stated however this time instead of stuttering and looking down, she made direct eye contact. Something she hasn't done since the marriage, but when it comes to Reyansh, a different sort of energy shoots up.
"You are my husband, the person I got married to because I loved. Why would I have eyes for someone else?"
"If you truly loved me sweetheart you wouldn't need to look at other men", before she could response, he continued.
