Wings Of Fire High School

Chapter 1

Clay was quietly snoring on his bed. It had orange sheets with a brown blanket. The frame was just gray metal.

Suddenly, his little brother, Umber, came into his room. He was only 12. Umber looked similar to Clay. Umber had the same amber eyes as the rest of his family, but his hair was a little more brown-ish ginger like his older sister, Crane. Umber was wearing a light cream colored plaid shirt with dark blue overalls.

"Clay, wake up!" Umber tried to wake up Clay.

"Five more years.." Clay turned to his back.

"You have High School! And you're late!" He walked to the edge of Clay's bed and grabbed the blanket. He then ripped it off of his bed.

"Ok! Jeez!" Clay said. He was wearing farm pajamas.

Clay hopped out of bed, pushed Umber out of his room, and walked to his dresser. He grabbed an orange plaid shirt with a white undershirt and blue jeans. He also grabbed his brown boots.

Clay walked out of his room and across the hall to the bathroom. He put his clothes on and threw his pajamas into the laundry basket. Clay brushed his hair and teeth. After he was done, he put his socks and boots on and walked out of the bathroom to be met with his little sister, Sora. She pushed past him.

"Morning, Sora." Clay smiled.

"Morning." Sora said. She then closed the door quickly.

Wow, are we really this late? Clay thought as he walked back into his room to grab his leather messenger bag.

He walked into the kitchen where his Mom, Cattail, and his Aunt, Asha, were talking with Pheasant and marsh. Reed was already at college and Crane was waiting for Umber and Marsh to finish their food to drive them to middle school.

"Good morning, Clay!" Asha turned around from the counter and smiled.

"Morning, Aunt Asha!" Clay came over and sat down next to Pheasant.

"Oh my gosh!" Marsh was in a panic, munching frantically on his eggs.

"You ok, Marsh?" Clay asked.

Marsh looked at him, his bright amber eyes wide.

"No, he forgot to do his summer reading." Umber said, walking from the living room and to the front door with Crane.

"I'm sure your teacher will be ok with it!" Clay said.

Marsh sighed and finished his eggs.

"Marsh, hurry up and get out of my house.."Their mom said.

Cattail, their mom, wasn't there a lot. She was normally at the shop she owned with her sisters Asha. So it was kinda weird that morning.

"Ok.." Marsh hopped up from his seat and gave Asha his plate.

Crane, Marsh, and Umber all walked out to Asha's car.

"You, Pheasant, and Sora should also get to school." Asha took their plates after Clay was finished.

Sora finally came out of the bathroom and together, the three siblings all walked out the door. Sora was wearing a black turtleneck with a brown plaid short jacket and cream high waisted plants. Pheasant was also wearing a plaid jacket, though it was longer and a warm amber color, different from her eyes. She was wearing black bell bottoms and a white t-shirt. Clay's family loved to wear plaid.

As the three made it to the bus stop, the bus had arrived.

"Just in time!" Clay thought as the three of them walked onto the bus.
