Today started off like any other day, until my meddling mother decided to play cupid and sent me a bio data. As I gazed upon the picture of the girl she deemed fit for me, I couldn't help but be mesmerized. Those enchanting brown eyes, those long hairs... and oh, that mole on her lips! Let's just say my thoughts took a detour to a destination best kept to myself, lest I be labeled a hopeless romantic or worse, a sex freak!...hahaha...

Just as I was lost in my reverie, my dear mother called, eagerly awaiting my verdict on the potential bride. With a noncommittal hum, I tried to evade her enthusiasm, but alas, my mom's excitement knew no bounds. Her victory cry echoed so loudly through the phone that I swear even the walls of my office could hear it, "Oh my god he said YES!!!!!".
And if that wasn't enough, in barged my best friend and partner-in-crime, Dhruv, wielding my phone like a weapon of mass embarrassment. Before I could protest, he put my mom on speakerphone and began his campaign of persuasive matchmaking. "See, aunty, I told you he'd like her," Dhruv boasted, leaving me feeling like a puppet in his expert hands. He was also the CTO of my company, we were college buddies. She replied "Ha Dhruv you're my best son, god bless you, I'll call her family and inform them it's a yes from our side" and she disconnected the phone.
As my mother gleefully announced our impending union, I found myself drowning in a whirlpool of shock, confusion, and a hint of excitement. "Dhruv, what in the world is happening?" I demanded, desperate for answers amidst the chaos. But instead of clarity, I was met with Dhruv's smug grin, as he proudly declared himself the mastermind behind this matrimonial madness. "You remember my fiance Prisha?", I nodded to which and said "what's with her?", Dhruv replied "Lily is her best friend, I saw her photo in her phone I never met her personally but Prisha talk about her alot, she adores her a lot and so I thought she will be a perfect match for you, and see I was right" he said that proudly.
In a last-ditch effort to salvage my dignity, I protested, "But I never said yes!" Yet Dhruv, in all his wisdom, dismissed my objections with a simple, "Your eyes did, buddy. And trust me, you're head over heels for her already." With a playful ruffle of my hair, he left me to contemplate my fate, warning me not to fall too hard, lest I end up like him—madly in love and utterly helpless.
I saw her photo again and took a snap of it and started staring at it again and said I'm already head over heels for you....you make me someone who I doesn't know even exist within me. As I sat in my office, attempting to regain my composure and stop conversing with my bride-to-be, my secretary Reena barged in with news of an impending meeting. Trying to distract myself from thoughts of my mystery bride-to-be, I hastily hid her photo in the laptop and closed it and prepared for the meeting ahead.
We entered the conference room where already Dhruv was present smiling as wide as he can and all other higher authorities as the meeting was to discuss about an upcoming project which can make our company go at another level but we had too many competitors, so we had to do more than what anyone thinks.I asked Reena to connect my phone to the projector as I left my laptop in my office for obvious reasons...haha...Reena took my phone and was about to connect to projector, when she asked me, "Sir are you sure you want to share this...?", to which I made a confused face and said "yes Reena please do connect and stop wasting time", Reena nodded and connected, once the screen was loading. Little did I know, Reena's innocent attempt to connect my phone to the projector would inadvertently reveal my infatuation to the entire company.
I was devasted because now Dhruv know it's a definite yes...... it was always from the start but this confirmed it. And now the whole company know that their boss is a maniac and is crazy about a girl and during work time he adores her photo. I stared at Reena in anger that how can she be this stupid but it was me who was acting all stupid.
With my heart pounding and cheeks flushed, I scrambled to concoct a cover-up worthy of a Hollywood plot twist. And just like that, a simple misunderstanding spiraled into a chain of events that would change both our lives forever. But as they say, every cloud has a silver lining—or in my case, a bride-to-be hidden behind a laptop screen. The adventures of Aarav and Lily were just beginning, and I had a feeling they were going to be one heck of a ride.
