Miss Smith

"Miss Smith grabbed Abby, who was still playfully bouncing in her lap as she watched the world pass by through the window. Abby turned around to face her adopted mother as she pulled out her fuzzy pink earmuffs from her pocket".
Miss Smith
Hey sweetie. Can you put these on for a sec? We're about to have a grown-up conversation.
Abby
Okay. Does it have something to do with you guys throwing your phones out of the window?
Miss Smith
(Looks at Julian) No, sweetie just...just please put them on.
Abby
Okay!
"The cabin remained silent as Abby slowly took the earmuffs from Miss Smith, spinning them around playfully a few times before putting them on her ears. Julian watched her closely. Her eyes instantly got wide as she became completely deaf to the outside world. She clapped her hands loudly a few times for confirmation and then gleefully went back to staring out of the window, leaning back into Miss Smith's arms."

We were on the elevator and -
Julian
Why were you on the elevator?
Holt
You told us the stairs were closed.
Julian
You didn't check? Come on, Holt, you should know by now that I was playing!
"Holt and Miss Smith stared at him in silence."
Julian
