INT - Holt's House, Midnight
"Holt slept peacefully in his bed. It was a quiet night on the ranch, the sounds of wind and crickets filling the air. Holt slept with his window open, soaking his bed in bright white moonlight. His master bedroom was huge, around the size of an average living room. Though it was mostly empty, with only a large California queen-sized bed against the window, a black wood nightstand beside it, and a large wooden table on the opposite side of the room, across from the bed. As Holt slumbered, he began to dream."
"He saw his parents in the same living room President Oboomer had sat in the previous day. His dad sat on the couch watching television as Wonder Man watched over Capitoline Hill, perched on a nearby hill like an owl on a tree branch. Meanwhile, his mother surveyed every inch of the living room, stars in her eyes as she explored in wonder and admiration. Holt stood at the door watching the two of them nervously."
Holt's mom
Oh my god! Hoooolt, this place is so beautiful!
"Holt's father turned to him. Holt remained silent."
Holt's father
Holt, (patting a spot on the couch next to him) come sit. Don't be a stranger.
"Holt hesistantly made his way to the couch, slowly shuffling his feet as sweat rolled down his forehead. He shakily sat next to his father, jumping as his mother energetically plopped on the couch beside him, trapping him in the middle. As they turned to look at him with smiles on their faces, he looked to the television, ignoring them."
Wonder Man
(Breathing heavily) Even this far back into history, human nature is still the same. Maybe... only trying to save people is futile. I should try to make a real change!
"Wonder Man took a determined stance as he pulled out his compass from his pants pocket."
Wonder Man
A better future!
"The smiles on Holt's parents' faces faded as they watched their son with concern. Holt's father grabbed the remote to turn the television off as his mother rubbed his leg softly."
Holt's mother
Holt, sweetie. What's wrong?
"Holt looked down on the ground, refusing to speak."
Holt's mother
Honey, why aren't you talking to us?
Holt
(Quietly) Because I know you aren't real...
"The room became silent for a few moments, the atmosphere becoming heavy"
Holt's father
What do you mean we aren't real?
Holt
(Still looking at the ground) You died when I was a toddler. I...shouldn't even know what you look like.
