Chapter XV

Lisa's stern gaze landed on me and Kai, who was standing near my back. I don't know why I'm nervous. She took the step at the center commanding attention of everyone. Everyone was eager to hear her words.

She's not going to spill our relationship right? I mean, there's no need to flaunt to these people our marriage, she doesn't need to impress anyone here. 

"Thank you, Doctor Yoo, for the introduction," Lisa began, her voice calm but authoritative. "I am honored to be here today and to support such a worthy cause."

As she spoke, her expression unreadable. My mind raced with questions. Why is she here? What does she wants? Didn't we already talk about this?

"As the CEO of L Construction, I am committed to making a difference in the community," Lisa continued, her voice steady. "And I am proud to be a part of this initiative to bring healthcare to those who need it most. I would like to thank each one of you, this medical mission wouldn't be possible without the medical team volunteers behind this. We thank you for your service " Lisa continued, her voice resonating with sincerity.

Her words were met with a round of applause from the volunteers, who looked on with a mixture of surprise that Lisa acknowledged them. But I couldn't bring myself to join in. My thoughts were still consumed by the unexpected presence of Lisa.

"Please enjoy the food prepared for you, you all deserve to take a rest" She ended her short speech.

As Lisa concluded her short speech with a gracious smile and a slight bow, applause filled the room, echoing the appreciation of the volunteers for her words of gratitude.

As the applause died down, Miyeon's enthusiastic squeal pulled me from my thoughts, and I turned to see her gushing with admiration. "Oh my gosh, she is so smart!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with admiration.

I wince inwardly. Smart?  What so smart about that? but well Yes, Lisa was undeniably clever, her ability to manipulate words and people to suit her own purpose left a bitter taste in my mouth. 

"Let's go get some food" Kai urges as everyone stands up to get some food. I found myself frozen in place, my appetite evaporating at the sight of Lisa standing in front of me. She was talking to Doctor Yoo who was saying something to her, but her gaze passes through me.

Despite the flavorful aroma of the food wafting through the room, I couldn't bring myself to move, my stomach churning with a mixture of anxiety and discomfort.

What is she planning to do? Why does she always sense when I'm having a great time and would appear out of no where and ruin it? Is this some kind of special ability of her?

Sensing my hesitation, Kai cast me a concerned glance. "Hey Doc Jen, are you okay?" he asked, his voice soft with concern.

I forced a weak smile and nod, trying to push aside my uneaseness. "Yeah, I'm fine," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper. "Just not feeling very hungry all of a sudden. I think I might just need some fresh air."

Kai's brow furrowed with concern, but before he could press further, I walked out of the room.

I blew out a frustrated breath, feeling overwhelmed by the tension that seemed to follow me like a dark cloud. I thought she was going to reveal our relationship. "Gosh, why does she have to follow me here?" I muttered under my breath, my frustration simmering just beneath the surface.
