Fish Out of Water

The vividness of the dream was incomparable to any dream you had in the past, you could still feel the pseudo pain in your head from where it made contact with the side table. Although you assume you weren't sleeping for long, since the position of the sun hasn't changed much, you are surprised to see that your bedside alarm clock now reads 7:15am.

Blinking, you tilted your head in confusion. You could have sworn that it was almost eight o'clock from when you last checked the time. Shaking your head, you dismiss the thought, reasoning that you were half asleep when you finished the game so it was likely that you were remembering things wrong.

Thinking nothing of the situation, you lay back down in bed, comforters pulled over you, ready to fall asleep. Only thing is though, you can't. You weren't tired anymore. "Dagnabbit!" You pushed the blankets down so that they were just below your bust, huffing all the while. You didn't have time to complain to yourself about your lack of drowsiness because your mother called for you from downstairs.

"Y/n!" She hollered. "You need to get ready for school!"

'School?' you questioned yourself. 'But isn't it Saturday?' Throwing the covers to one side of your bed, you stood up and left your room. Standing in the hall, you leaned over the stair rails and replied "Isn't today Saturday?"

"Saturday? No, Honey, today's Monday." Your mother rounded the corner, now coming into view looking quite puzzled, laundry basket resting on her hip.

"Wait, but I thought yesterday was Friday. You're sure it's Monday?" You crinkled your eyebrow in confusion. There was no way that you slept through the whole weekend. Your parents wouldn't have allowed it.

The expression on your mother's face contorted into one of concern. "Are you feeling okay? The doctor did say you might experience mild confusion, but I thought that already passed." Doctor? What doctor? What was she saying? You didn't go to the doctor's. You just got back from school and were playing your game. When did you need to go to the doctor's? You lifted your hand to rub your temples to soothe your forming headache, but stopped when you felt the familiar texture of a gauze bandage.

Flinching your hand back, you were confused as to when that got there. Thinking back on it, you begin to question whether or not falling into the bedside table actually was a dream. Did that actually happen? you pondered. Did I really knock myself out because of a stupid table?

Noticing your mother's still concerned expression, you straightened up a bit and said, "Sorry. I guess I just forgot, heh." You awkwardly laughed, trying your best to ease the tension. "This whole thing felt like a dream."

Your mother's shoulders relaxed a little but her face still expressed concern. "Maybe you shouldn't go to school today," she said. "Let me go get your father, see if he can take us to the hospital on the way to work." She readjusted the laundry basket and began walking into the dinning room, leaving you to stumble after her.

"Darling, I think Y/n needs to go back to the doctors! She seems even more confused than when it first happened."

Your father, who was sitting in his chair reading the newspaper, folded the paper up and turned his full attention to you. "Y/n, Dear, are you still feeling unwell?" He spoke with a gentle tone. Like your mother, his face had the same worried expression.
