Moss sat next to the head of a deer which his parents had just caught, and they along with his siblings were eating. He stared at it, his mind going back to the story Zaro told him and the other pack pups. Moss knew the Blood Lurker wasn't real, that it was just a fairytale! But his mind had him doubting these beliefs, which told him that the monster was not real. Because it wasn't!
Right?
"Moss? Are you okay?" his mom called to him, snapping the pup out of his trance. "You haven't touched the deer at all, and it's your favorite!" "He's probably thinking about that juvenile's stories again! I don't even wanna know what he told this time!" his dad scoffed, taking another bite of the deer. Moss sighed, his ears falling back. "I-is the Blood Lurker real?" he asked, making his parents look at him with confusion and concern. "Did Zaro tell you that gorish story?!" she snarled, in which Moss stumbled back. "H-he did, but I didn't believe it!" Moss took a breath, walking closer to his mom. "B-but it got me thinking... and I wanted to ask you guys..."
"Oh, Moss..." "Lilac. We should have a talk with that young wolf..." "Dada? Whas a Bood Lukah?" The couple looked at eachother with nervous expressions, then Lilac nudged the pup to a tunnel. "T-that's a story for another time, Fern. Why don't you go to bed?" "Awwwhhh!!" the pup whined, still being pushed towards the sleeping den, eventually having to be carried by her mother. She paused by her mate, glancing at Moss before looking back at him. "Make sure to get the others to bed." she stated, then leaned closer to the wolf. "Especially Moss." "Alright."
"COAL!!" a larger male wolf ran in, stopping at the entrance to the den. "COAL! I- THE BEARS- PINE- I-" "Woah! Hey! Take it easy, Lake!" Coal huffed, gently biting the large wolf to get him to stop and take a breath. The black wolf turned to the pups, nodding them to the tunnel. "Go to bed, pups." they all obeyed, but Moss stayed behind. He wanted to know what was happening. Coal sighed, taking a breath. "You too, Moss." "No." the pup replied, sitting down and staring at his dad with a stern face. "I want to know what is happening." The male groaned, frustrated at his son's stubbornness and lack of obedience. "Just go to bed, please. This is a discussion for adults only." The pup didn't move, only letting out a small growl.
Coal's teeth bared a bit, he was growing tired of Moss not listening to his order. "I am not asking, Moss. To bed. Now." "I want to kn-" Coal then fully turned around and snarled at the pup, tail up, fur spiked, and teeth bared. His yellow eyes were glaring at the pup, who now flinched at the sudden reaction. "To. Bed. Moss." he spoke coldly, in which the pup huffed and walked to the tunnel with his head low. "You don't have to be so hard on him, Coal." Lake spoke with his head low. The black wolf sighed, turning to face the light brown wolf. "I know, but I just wish he listened to me when I tell him to do something." He then whined a bit, his ears going back a bit. "His stubbornness and lack of obedience is going to get him killed one day, I just know it."
Lake let out a breath, knowing about the pup's behavior. He then cleared his throat and gently pulled Coal outside the den. "W-well... I should tell you about the bears now, Coal..." with that, the two wolves were on their way to the borders while Lake explained the situation.
~~Meanwhile~~
The beast sat on a large rock, gnawing on a bear skull and chipping it with ease. He chuffed as he bit off another piece of the muzzle, throwing it onto the ground below. The black furred monster turned to his left where he heard a twig snap, seeing his pink furred mate. He hopped off the rock, purring as he heard what she had to say. "The Blood Moon will rise soon, my love. There are plenty of delicious choices out there." She purred, earning a chuckle from her mate. "Very good, my darling." his gaze turned to where the clearing was, where the massive wolf pack resided in, oblivious to the apex predators living in the woods next to their territory. His eyes then set onto some young wolf pups playing, his grin growing. "Wonder just how tender and delicious the young ones are."
The pink beast agreed, then hid among the fog when a group of giggling pups ran towards the woods. They paused as soon as the first one bumped into the male's leg, then they all looked up at him. Their playfulness turned into curiosity, which immediately turned into terror as the pink feline made her way behind them, basically blocking them off from any escape.
Let's just say, the pack lacked a few pups, screams of terror and heartbreak rung out, and more blood stained the woods.
