Screams rang all around, waking up both Moss and Bloom. The she-wolf growled as she prepared to attack to defend herself and Moss. The male looked all around, being puzzled by the fog. "The hell?" he huffed, struggling to see through the fog. "What the fuck is happening? Why is there suddenly fog-" another scream rang out, followed by gurgling sounds along with choking. Those were followed by the terrified and pained sobs of the young ones, but they got cut short.
Without thinking twice, Moss ran back to where the pack territory would be at, being followed closely by Bloom. He ran trying to find his den, tripping over a body in the process. "Moss are you alright?!" Bloom whined, then stopped as she gazed at the corpse. "Bloom, wha-" "M-Moss..." she trembled, in which Moss looked at the body he tripped over, immediately yelping as he hopped off of it as he recognized it.
This was his mother.
His mother.
Her body was barely recognizable as it was littered with scratches, one of which opened her stomach and her organs spilled out.
He spent too much time staring at the body, not focusing in anything else. That was until Bloom's scream was heard, along with a thud. "B-BLOOM!!" was all he yelled out before being struck at his face by sharp claws. Moss was thrown aside, looking up at his attacker quickly. Just in time, the fog cleared out a little bit, but the beasts remained and were visible now. A huge black and red monster stood over him, a massive paw holding his shoulder down.
The other one, a pink one, was being attacked by Bloom. The wolf attacked with all her might, but it was useless. Her teeth did no damage to the beast, which retaliated by swiftly chomping down on Bloom's head, immediately crushing it and killing the female. Blood spilled from its mouth as Bloom hung limply, no sign of life anywhere in her. Moss stared with wide tear filled eyes, feeling his world crash down. He bit on the beast's paw, making it flinch in surprise. Moss took this chance to make a run for it, but he unfortunately caught glimpse of the many, many corpses along with still surviving and terrified wolves.
Moss could almost imagine how those monsters came crashing into the territory, slaughtering everyone they spotted. His eyes filled with tears as he skidded to a stop behind a boulder, hiding and catching his breath. He peeked out from behind the rock, watching as a young female tried to run from the pink beast, only to be struck at the legs and making her fall with a yelp. Eventually the monster bit down on her stomach, ripping it off and allowing the organs to spill out without a care. As the she-wolf sobbed and screamed in bloody murder, the feline grabbed the intestine and yanked it out of the wolf. Eventually, as if in an instant, the beast ripped out part of the she-wolf's face along with some of the skull.
It then turned to a group of young puppies who were paralyzed with terror, unable to run from the clear danger. "Aww, don't be scared~" it cooed at them, a feminine tone sliding off her tongue as she spoke. The feline then opened her jaws once more. "You'll be joining your mommy veeeeery soon~!" immediately after she said that, her jaws clamped down onto the puppies. The long and sharp fangs piercing through their tiny bodies, earning pained yips and cries which stopped as she clamped down once more, now crushing their entire bodies. Sounds of bones crunching along with fading whines filled the momentous silence.
The male beast had a huge wolf pinned down, paw placed on her head to keep the canine from making any attempt of defending. He chuckled, immediately chomping down on the wolf's neck, yanking back and down. This action ripped the bottom of the wolf off, and of course lots of blood spilled along with her organs. Not to mention her unborn pups also poured out. "Oh? Well then, it seems we got ourselves a price with our prey." he chuckled, grabbing the entire litter and biting down on them.
Moss gagged as the beasts kept going on murdering innocent wolves. He wanted to throw up. But he kept it in as best he could.
A loud hiss was heard, and Moss froze on the spot as he backed behind the rock, tail between his legs. Shakily looking up, he held a breath as the large monster loomed closely.
Moss stiffled a whimper, his life flashing before his eyes as more and more screams rang out. Accompanying them was the sounds of thudding, whimpering and even some wheezes from wolves trying to catch a breath as their throats were slashed. To his right, squelching was heard, followed by a low hiss. He stared at the jaws of the pink beast, not looking away but hearing the black male approach from behind.
Moss was proved wrong, but it didn't matter whether he was right or wrong. His blood and organs were spilled on the earth regardless.
The two beasts glanced at one another, both maliciously grinning. "Shall we finish off the rest of this pathetic planet, my love?" the male asked, and the female giggled darkly. "How generous of you, my king~" she purred, following closely as her mate ran off to slaughter the rest of the world.
That night was a mass extinction.
Nothing was left alive. Not even the ocean creatures.
Their next targets would be extraterrestrial life.
There was nothing that could stop the Blood Lurkers in their hunt.
Hiding was pointless. They would be easily found.
Fighting back was pointless. These beasts were assumed to be immortal.
All their victims could do was accept their fate.
