That morning everyone found out why Charles wasn't present in Canada for the Grand Prix. A journalist posted photos of Charles and Diana leaving the police station and stated that his credible source informed him about Diana's kidnapping.
When the news went viral, a lot of paparazzi showed up in front of Charles' house, waiting for the opportunity to take a picture and sell it to a magazine. They smelled blood and went for it, occupying his driveway, trying to take pictures of the inside of the house through the windows.
They were loud enough to wake Charles up. He was a mess, his eyes were swollen from crying at Diana's story and he was extremely tired. They talked until 2 in the morning, Diana told him everything she remembered. They spend a fair amount of time just cuddling, crying and taking deep breaths so Diana could calm down enough to continue sharing her experience.
When Charles looked through the window on his driveway, he saw a lot of people and cameras flashing. He quickly hid behind the wall and covered the window with curtains. Then, he did it to every other window in the house, completely blocking out the view from the outside.
He checked social media and of course, his Twitter and Instagram were full of people saying how sorry they were that this happened. It took him a while to get through tons of messages and actually find the original post, but when he did, he realized he knows the name of the journalist.
It was the same man that took pictures of him and Angie, that caused her to break up with him.
All's well that ends well, thanks to this picture he ended up in a relationship with Diana, but that was the second time this man crossed boundaries and put his private life on the internet.
Charles understood that the job of paparazzi was literally to sell pictures of famous people, he didn't mind it most of the time, but when someone was messing with his family or friends, making money off of a tragedy, it was too much.
He decided to write an email to every team member of Ferrari, apologize for not being in Canada with them and confirm the rumors about Diana's kidnapping. He wanted to address this in person, but now that the news were out, there was no point in waiting.
He also wanted to write a statement for everyone else, thank the fans for the support and say Diana was getting all the help she needed, but this wasn't his decision to make. Charles couldn't post something like this for everyone to see without Diana's agreement, so he decided to wait until she wakes up and discuss it with her first.
2 hours and 2 coffees later, Diana's parents woke up and wanted to take Amber for a walk, but Charles warned them about all the paparazzi outside and advised to wait until security clears the crowd.
"Is it always like this when something happens?" Erica asked, slightly peeking through the courtains to find out if they can finally go.
"No. I mean, most of the time they don't gather in front of my house. Sometimes I hear cameras clicking when I'm out in public, but that's okay" Charles shrugged.
"Darling, calm down" Erica said to Harry that was pacing back and forth, like he couldn't wait to get out of the house.
"I hate this. How can you live like that?" He asked Charles. "You can't even get out of your own house. You're trapped"
"Basically, we can get out any minute" Charles explained. "I just don't want them to make money on the pictures they're going to take when we do. They're preying on people's tragedy all the time, it's inhumane. So let's just sit down and wait until security confirms it's okay to go. I don't want them to bother you with questions"
It didn't take long for Charles to get the call that the street was cleared, so Erica and Harry put Amber on the leash and came out the back door.
