THE GROUP was in the backseat of a taxi smushed together, and although it wasn't comfortable, it wasn't awkward at all. aspen and percy were sitting by the windows while grover and annabeth sat in between them.
aspen was playing with her nails, annabeth has her head on aspens shoulder, grover was looking out of aspens window, and percy was staring at everything. at one point, he tried to sneak a glance at aspen to see that she was already looking at him.
the taxi stopped after a while and percy opened the door and got out with the box of shoes that luke gave him in his hands.
after percy was grover, then annabeth. percy looked back waiting for aspen to get out of the car. when she did, she closed the door of the taxi and looked around new york city, admiring the beautiful buildings.

THE FOUR of them were on a bus in the worst seats possible. right next to the bathroom. Interrupting the little awkward silence, percy spoke. "there is no way this is what sacred smells like." he told us, trying to brighten up the mood.
aspen looked towards him, "were soldiers on a mission. its not a vacation." she said, sassy as ever. percy leaned towards her a little bit since they were both in the aisle seats. "thank you for clearing that up." he sassed back. "but if this is so important, why didn't chiron spring for plane tickets?"
percy turned to looked at grover, "this seems kind of low priority, doesn't it?" he asked. grover, being the sweetheart he is, apologized. "sorry, i assumed someone had told you." percy snapped his head back to grover, "tell me what?" grover turned his body to face more towards percy, getting ready to explain.
"percy, it isn't just the monsters who are gonna be trying to stop us." grover told him, "your a forbidden child. zeus might decide to take a shot at you himself." aspen stopped her conversation with annabeth to creep in on the conversation upon hearing zeus' name.
"the sky is his domain," grover stated, percy looked down the his feet then back up at grover. "we'd be serving you up on a silver platter to try to travel through it." percy thought for a second as grover ended his rambling. "yeah, no one mentioned that." he said as he look to the front. aspen was zoning out looking at the ground thinking about what might happen.

THE BUS stopped at a gas station as aspen and annabeth stood up. annabeth looked at grover and percy, "were gonna go get some snacks." she said, motioning towards herself and aspen. percy started to stand up, "ill come with you guys." aspen stopped him before he could fully get out of his seat.
