With a twist of the key, the engine roared to life, its powerful purr echoing through the silent night. As Kabir set the car in motion, the headlights pierced through the darkness, illuminating the winding road ahead. With each turn of the wheel, he guided us along the unfamiliar path, the rhythmic movement of the tires on road providing a soothing way to the thoughts swirling in my mind.
As the miles slipped away beneath us, I stole glances at him, the soft glow of the dashboard casting shadows across his features. And as we journeyed on into the night, I couldn't help but wonder what lay ahead for us. But for now, all that mattered was the road stretching out before us.
As we pulled up to his house, a nervous flutter danced in my stomach. He turned off the engine and glanced at me with a reassuring smile before slipping out of the car, leaving me alone in the soft glow of the interior lights.
As he disappeared into the house to change, I sat in the quiet darkness. The sound of his footsteps echoing faintly from within the house served as a constant reminder of his presence. I took my phone out and checked my messages to Anika which were still on delivered. I prayed for her and her family to be healthy and safe.
As I sat alone in the car, waiting for him to return, a shiver ran down my spine. The hairs on the back of my neck prickled with a sense of unease. Glancing up, I couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching me from the shadows of his house and it was not him.
As I peered through the darkness toward his house, a chill swept over me. There, in the dim light filtering through the curtains, I saw a figure—a woman's silhouette, hauntingly still against the backdrop of the window. My heart skipped a beat as I tried to make sense of what I was seeing, my breath catching in my throat. Was it a trick of the light, or was someone really there, watching me from within the shadows?
Anxious anticipation took over me as I waited for him to emerge from the house. With every passing second, my heart pounded louder in my chest, the memory of the shadowy figure lingering in my mind. Finally, the door creaked open, and he stepped out into the night, a smile on his face. But as he approached, I couldn't shake the feeling of unease that gripped me. Was the woman still watching us from behind the curtains, or was it all just my imagination?
As he settled into the car beside me, in that moment, all thoughts of the mysterious woman at the window faded away, replaced by the warmth of his presence beside me. No matter how annoying his presence is but it never made me uncomfortable.
And as I stole a glance at him, I couldn't help but admire the way the moonlight played across his features, casting shadows that danced across his face.My heart skipped a beat as I saw him in his sharp black suit. The jacket fit him like a glove, showing off his strong shoulders and slim waist. His white shirt added a classy touch, while his trousers and shiny black shoes completed the look perfectly. As he started the engine, the car rumbled to life, propelling us forward toward the party.
" Are you again eye fucking me penhor ? " He said with a smirk on his face.
Kabir's playful accusation caught me off guard, and I shot him a sharp look. "What that supposedto mean?" I snapped, feeling a surge of defensiveness rise within me.
He raised an eyebrow, his smirk widening. "Oh, come on, don't play innocent," he retorted, his tone teasing. "I've seen the way you eye up me when I cross your path."
Heat rose to my cheeks at his bold words, and I struggled to come up with a retort. "I-I don't know what you're talking about," I stammered, feeling flustered under his scrutiny.
"Then what are you staring at?" he asked, catching me off guard.
I blinked, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. "N-nothing," I stammered, quickly averting my gaze.
He chuckled softly, his eyes dancing with amusement. "Sure didn't seem like 'nothing'," he teased, a smirk playing at the corners of his lips.
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat, feeling a flush of embarrassment wash over me. "Well, maybe I just appreciate good company," I replied, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies fluttering in my stomach.
As Kabir drove, a hearty laugh bubbled up from deep within him, filling the car with warmth. I turned my head toward the window from embarrassment as I watched the city lights, building with each passing moment. He guided us through the streets, his focus on the road.
As we pulled up to the party ,I could feel my pulse quicken with nervousness as Kabir parked the car and I shot him a nervous glance.
"Ready?" he asked, his smile warm and reassuring.
I took a deep breath, nodding hesitantly. "Ready, I think," I replied, my voice tinged with uncertainty.
"It's okay if you're not ready," Kabir reassured me gently. "We can do this later on."
"No, it's okay," I insisted, trying to gather up some courage. "We have to do this anyway. Might as well get it over with now."
I looked at the venue . The party venue seems luxurious, with lights around the shimmering pool where other people were chatting, dancing and mingled. Music and laughter filled the air. The guards stood watch at the gate, checking the tickets .
I heard the car door open, and Kabir appeared by my side, extending his hand to help me out. I smiled and took his hand , feeling a wave of determination as I stepped out into the night.
" If you feel uncomfortable at any point of the party , say the words and we will be out , we just need to mark our presence there together " Kabir said as he ran his thumb over my hand .
I hummed in response, feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement. When Kabir offered me his arm, I gladly accepted, finding comfort in his presence. As we approached the gate together, I noticed the long line of people, their stares making me uneasy. When they saw us, the shock on their faces and the murmurs of gossip were noticeable. Despite expecting it, I felt my body tense with anxiety. I tightened my grip on Kabir's hand, seeking reassurance. He met my gaze with understanding and placed his other hand over mine, offering silent support.
It was clear that our arrival had caused a stir among the other people. As we drew nearer, to my surprise, the security guard greeted us with bowing down and a warm smile.
Good evening, Sir," he said respectfully, his tone tinged with respect. " please, come this way, Sir."
I exchanged a confused glance with Kabir, but he simply smiled and nodded, leading the way with a confident stride. As we passed through the gate without so much as a glance at our tickets, I couldn't help but feel a surge of confusion about the unexpected turn of events.
" They didn't check us ?" I said in a confusing tone.
" Nobody checks the owner " Kabir boasted with pride. "Enjoy your VIP treatment, penhor."
"If you leave me alone , I might enjoy it more " I quipped with a fake smile.
"Ouch", he teased , feigning hurt as he placed a hand over his chest. " That hurts".
As we stepped further into the party, the loud music and vibrant atmosphere engulfed us. Neon lights illuminated the dance floor and pool as people moved to the music, their laughter and chatter blending into a rhythm of joyous noise.
Kabir grinned , his eyes sparkling with the mischief as he looked around the scene. " Looks like we're in for a wild night , penhor" he remarked, his voice barely audible over music.
He let go of my arm and grabbed my hand, leading me onto the dance floor. As we made our way through the crowd, a silence descended and people parted, clearing a path for us.
"Penhor, let's seal our bond with a dance," he said, his smile warm and inviting.
