Chapter 2 Meet The Gang!

When Kai awoke the next day, it took him a moment to realize he wasn't sleeping on the streets anymore. Now he's in a rather dusty hospital bed. Not really a modern place to sleep, but he's glad to have something softer than cardboard on the concrete floor.

Kage brought them to an old abandoned hospital near the edge of the city. According to some of the other children, they've been living here for around a year and a half. Now, it's where Kai will be living as well.

The children all sleep together in one big room. There were 5 beds, but Kage brought another bed for Kai to sleep in, adding to that number, there were 7 children with 6 beds.

... Wait a second. Shouldn't there be 7 beds for everyone to sleep, comfortably? He'll ask later.

After stretching and getting accustomed to his surroundings, he noticed two of the beds were empty.

'Huh, guess someone's already up.' He thought as he quietly hopped out of bed.

Kai decided to explore the hospital since he didn't have enough time to check it out yesterday.

This was a relatively small hospital, with only 4 floors stretching about the size of two football fields. There's one cafeteria near the entrance, which is the most you can get out of a cafeteria. Circular tables spread around, a window and door to the kitchen, and a nice view outside through the big glass windows stretching from the ceiling to the floor.

Just a minute down the left corridor and you'll end up at the courtyard, which also serves as the front entrance to the hospital.

It was quite nice for an abandoned hospital. Pine trees stood tall and smooth, the bushes were all symmetrical, placed along the path. And there was even a fountain in the center! (Although, there wasn't any water running).

For a moment, Kai felt at ease. It was certainly a weird feeling to him, probably because he hadn't felt like this in a long time.

Only for that ease to be interrupted by a hand placed on his shoulder, making him jump away in fright. "Ahh!"

It was Kage. He saw her appearance yesterday, but it was when everyone else was inside her. Her real eyes were black in contrast to the rainbow color before, and she had no rainbow wings on her back.

The girl stared at him, "Wow, jumpy much?"

"U-Uh, no. I just... didn't hear you come up behind me." He remarked, "Someone oughta put a bell on you."

The girl blinked.

Kai, seeing her expression immediately panicked as his face turned red, "No, w-wait! I meant-!"
