Hyejin woke up with a light sigh, facing the sun shining through the curtains with a smile. Her head only hurt a little, making her grin; if she was like that after all the drinks the night before, how would Angie be?

She reached to feel the bed beside her, but it was empty, and she sat up immediately. She was confused for a second and looked around: that was her bedroom in her apartment. Not only was Angie not there despite Hyejin remembering both falling asleep there, but the double bed was also void of its other owner: her husband.

She groaned and ran a hand through her hair, then decided to get out of bed and search for her best friend. She staggered when she saw her snoozing on the light blue couch in her living room; what the hell?

Hyejin sighed and tried waking up completely while verifying that nothing was out of place: no extra pair of shoes in the entryway, no jackets changed on the rack, no dirty cups or dishes on the kitchen counter, and nothing a millimeter away from its spot in the bathroom.

She heaved a big sigh and sat on the couch near Angie, who was finally waking up. "Why are you sleeping here?"

Angie yawned. "I thought Nomin could have come home, so I came here to sleep."

"You shouldn't have bothered," Hyejin said dryly before searching for her phone. She checked it for a moment. "Ahh, see? A message from him at 1:53, and it says: I'm working hard, don't wait up for me. Talk tomorrow."

Angie bit her lip briefly, puffy, glistening eyes following her friend as Hyejin slouched beside her. "Does he know I'm here, maybe?"

"I didn't tell him," Hyejin answered, going over something on her phone. "Just to spite him. But I can't if he doesn't bother coming home for the third night in a row, right? At this point, I might just change the lock."

"Hyejin!"

"I'm joking. The apartment is mine anyway." She moved Angie's legs over her lap and then showed her the phone. "Here, what do you think? Let's order a nice breakfast and watch something."

Angie agreed, though she was worried. She knew Hyejin was trying to make light of the situation and enjoy their time together, but of course, it wouldn't all get magically better unless Hyejin and her husband talked.

They got ready in turns, and by the time their breakfast order arrived, Hyejin was already displaying everything on the coffee table so they could stay on the couch watching Masterchef while digging in.

She knew Angie loved the show; they had watched it together many times while in college, but Hyejin's mind was elsewhere. Her fingers fumbled with her wedding ring, and she wondered why he was really running away. She was shocked and disappointed and so tired, but he wasn't. He didn't even recognize the issue, so could it be that he was just simply doing his work? Staying true to his belief that the album was the priority and letting the ship that was their marriage sink deeper than the broken chunks of the Titanic?

She was irritated just thinking about it; why was he never there?

You sent me a message, and I was here instantly. What does that tell you?

She closed her eyes and gripped the coffee mug, the familiar scent putting her right there — when she cleaned the coffee she had poured on him and shook from both his words and worry.

Yoongi was there. He would be there if she asked, if she called. But she couldn't understand him. Did he want to kiss her? But he never looked at her that way, because if he did, then that meant he had been suffering too. But he was Min Yoongi, he was always busy and at his absolute best. She didn't know if he was dating; she hadn't heard anything about it, but surely he had no issues—
