Spencer's P.O.V

It's been six months since I was in a car accident that nearly cost me my career. I've been wanting to continue developing my game, but with me recovering from a broken arm and leg, I haven't been able to do that. Instead, I've been going to physical therapy to get my arm and leg back to 100 percent before the season starts.

Today I'm meeting the doctor regarding an update and my arm and leg to see if I'm able to get back on the field before training camp starts.

"Hello, Spencer. Nice to see you again." Dr. Newman greeted me.

"Hello, Dr. Newman. Nice to see you too. Good news I hope. I'm ready to get back on the football field. Lots of expectations coming from our team and I need to be sure I'm ready." I said to him.

"Well, I won't sugarcoat it."

"Am I dying?" I asked him as I was joking to hide away my true feelings.

"No. You'll live Spencer. The good news is that based on your latest results, your arm has fully healed. It should be back to the way it was before the car accident."

"What about my leg?"

"Unfortunately Spencer, it hasn't properly healed yet. Based on the latest results, it shows that it still needs more time to heal. Most of it had to do with not only your leg being broken, but you also tore your meniscus in your knee. You're still at least a couple months from being fully healthy".

"What? That can't be right. I busted my ass to get back on the football field and now that's not even possible. Can't I just wear a knee brace? I can put pressure on it more than I used to."

"I would highly recommend you not do that. The more pressure you put on your leg, the more time it'll take for it to be fully healed. If you keep doing what you're doing Spencer and take my advice, you'll be back before the season ends. You won't be able to play at the beginning, but you will at the end, where it matters."

"Every game matters Dr. Newman. There isn't anything I can do to help speed up the process?"

Doctor Newman shook his head. "I'm sorry, Spencer."

I was in tears because I wanted to help my teammates win so badly, but now I have to watch them from the sidelines for the majority of the season.

Olivia's P.O.V.

After an amazing spa day with Simone, Layla, Patience, Jamie, Kia, and Davita, I couldn't wait to get back home to Spencer and my kids. I wanted to thank him for a spa day he booked for me and my girls. He said I deserved a day for always looking out for our family.

I walked into our house, only to find Spencer and Coop in the kitchen as he was in tears, but worse, I saw him will a bottle of Jack Daniels.

"Spencer. What the hell are you doing?" I asked him.

"No. No. No. We should be asking the questions. Do you not understand that actions have consequences?" Coop asked me as I was confused.

"Coop, what the fuck are you talking about?"

"What am I talking about? I'm talking about the fact you are the reason why Spencer can't live up to his expectations when it comes to his career. You always assumed the worst in him, and now he can't play this season."

"What? Spencer, I thought you were making progress?"

Spencer threw the glass of Jack Daniels across from me.

"I was Liv! Until you fucked it up! I had my last doctor's appointment before training camp and the doctor said I'm going to be out for the start of the season."

"Are you out for the ENTIRE season?"

"No."

"Then what's the problem?"

"The problem is that I have a setback in my career that was caused by my wife because she assumed the worst of me and then turned the script when it came to my personal life."

"Spencer, I admit that I was in the wrong for being so hurtful to you, but your setback is not my fault. You're the one who got in the car while intoxicated like you are right now."

"Fuck you Liv! That's bullshit. And you know what's so stupid? All that time when you hated me, I still loved you."

"Liv if anyone is to blame, it's your ass!" Coop said.

"Coop. Shut the fuck up! Get your shit, and the fuck out of my house! Now!"

"I'm not leaving unless Spencer wants me to."

"Coop it's ok. I'm good here. I can handle this. Appreciate you stopping by when I called. Say hi to Patience for me."

"Will do." Coop said as she walked out of the house.

"I don't why you keep calling Coop when all she does is be negative to everyone but you."

"She is not negative to everyone Liv. She just pointed out the truth. It ain't my fault you can't handle it. Cry me a river while you're at it."

"So it's like that Spencer? After all the work we put into fixing our marriage, you're gonna throw it away?"

"Like I said Liv. You're the reason why I'm not able to play. Because of that, I'm not able to provide for our family if the Rams decide to cut me."

"They won't Spencer!"

"How do you know that? Are you the general manager? No, you're not. So you don't know shit! I'm in the last year of my contract and they might not resign me if I'm not the Spencer James who helped his team win the Super Bowl. I might be out of a job. My career will be over if I'm cut and I won't to provide for a family. What kind of a man would I put Liv knowing that he can't provide for his wife and kids? But would then have to rely on his wife for everything."

"Spencer. Quit thinking about the unknown. We have time and we will get through this. And look what you have right now Spencer. You have a wife who still loves you even when she hated you when things were bad. Two beautiful baby girls who love their father so much and know that you would do anything for them to be happy. And an amazing supporting group from both sides of the family. You're not alone Spencer."

"I'll feel better when I see the results I want to see. In the meantime, I'm gonna stay at the condo for a while. I just need to be alone. I'm going to pack my things. Don't follow me."

"Spencer, please. I love you."

"I know, but loving someone ain't always enough in marriages."

I saw Spencer go to the bedroom and pack his things. I was in tears on the floor hugging my knees when all of a sudden I felt something warm dripping down to my legs.

"Spencer!" I called him as I started to panic when there was blood on my hands.

"What?" He looked at Liv and was in shock as to what happened. "Oh my god."

"Why am I bleeding?"

"I don't know, but we got to get you to a hospital now."

Spencer drove me to the hospital and we're now hoping it was not anything serious.
----------------------------------------------------------
What a twist that was when all seemed going well for Spelivia. Spencer's recovery to getting back on the field just hit a setback and might not be able to play in the Rams' upcoming season. But what's worse is that he blamed Liv for his setback. Now Liv is bleeding significantly. Hope it's nothing too serious. Please excuse any mistakes or grammar errors.
