Chapter 2.5 - Partners

When Aki arrived home, he went to his room and dropped off his bags on the floor.

''Phew finally back home.''

He plopped down on his bed, thinking about who he was going to choose to be his partner.

Aki wanted someone smart to be his partner because he wasn't going to be able to handle most of the workload himself.

If he was stuck with someone who was similar to him in terms of grades. He knew that he was going to have to be the one that would be doing most of the heavy lifting in the pair.

He thought about it for a moment and didn't have the slightest idea of anyone smart who would be willing to partner up with him.

But one person did come into mind.

''No, I should consider other people in the class first before deciding on him.''

Rin was a new friend that he just made, he didn't want to take advantage of him and ask him to be partners.

If he was going to choose him, it was going to have to be his last resort.

He thought long and hard about it on his bed, thinking about the rest of the students in his class.

There wasn't anyone else he could think of except...

''I can't! I could only think of Rin-kun, he's the only one I might have chance to be with.''

Aki thought about the other people he was friends with in the class, but they were all either male students who had similar grades as him or female students that were all smart.

He wasn't willing to partner up with any of his male friends because he knew that they would only be a distraction for him.

It was unlikely for him that he was going to pick one of the girls, because he thought that most of the girls are likely to have already picked their pair with the other girls, so there wasn't any chance for him to even attempt to ask them.

Another reason why he didn't want to choose any of the girls was because he wasn't comfortable with them.

Aki has only made small conversation with most of them when he was with the other members of the basketball team, but he has never personally talked to each of the girls individually.

That leaves only one option left...

He felt bad that he had no other option but Rin to choose to be his partner.

''I'll listen to his advice for the time being...''

He remembered what Rin told him after school and went over to retrieve his notebook from his bag.

He was going to spend the rest of his time at home studying things from school, before he could muster up the courage to ask Rin to be his partner.

Aki wanted to make sure that if was going to be Rin's partner, he was going to make sure that he was willing to work hard to do his part.

''Let's do this!''

He prepared himself for the next few hours to mentally focus on his work.

Aki opened his notebook and was surprised by what he saw. There was barely anything that was written on the first page of his notebook.

Aki didn't write much notes for himself during class, only jotting down the questions that sensei had written down on the board.

Since he wasn't able to wrap his mind around most of the questions sensei wrote down during class, he would write the questions down in his notebook and leave his answer blank.
