The blazing sun outside gave off the impression of being desperate for something different, for a fresh start. Even though Prince Jungkook was a punctual and orderly man, he was nevertheless sleeping on a small, hard mattress at the palace, far from the comforts of silk linen and soft, fluffy cotton.
As the crown prince, he was aware of the luxury, but he had also received training from illustrious professors who spared no effort in educating the Prince about the realities of everyday life, so he was acquainted with the chilly ground sleep.
Just to catch a glimpse of that generous woman opening the hut's entrance, he craned his neck to the side.
She insisted on a mattress for the prince to sleep on. He wondered where she had slept the night before. Once the meal was finished, he was presented with the mattress and the covers.
His whole reserve of energy from the cell was depleted by the force he displayed the day before, and he last remembered lying down.
He merely let out a sigh and kept staring at the ceiling—if you can even call it that. Only dried leaves were used to make it.
The prince pondered the activities of the woman and her son who is actually her grandson when it was windy and stormy outside. Speaking of which, he failed to notice the grandchild, who was most likely the robber who takes the food and grains from the people to feed their hunger.
He sighed once again. Did I not see the needs of my people? What am I doing for the people who genuinely see us as divine messengers, the royal family?
"Did you slept well my prince?" The lady asked.
"I appreciate you asking, ma'am, and I did, indeed. I'm not sure how I would repay your generosity." Prince arose and answered courteously.
"Your Highness, don't say that. It is a privilege and our good fortune that we can assist our guardian in whatever way." He did not know what to say, so he just merely nodded.
"By the way what's your name ma'am? And i would really appreciate if you can keep my identity private do not disclose this even to your grandson." Prince asked.
"Kim Halime my prince and don't worry about privacy" lady reassured him .
He recalled the conversation from last night.
Flashback::::::::
"Don't worry, ma'am. You are not required to treat me with royal courtesy just because I am not wearing my royal apparel. You resemble our King's mother in age, much like my grandmother did." King told the terrified woman, politely.
"But how," the prince cut her off, "I insist."
Woman breathed deeply. Meeting a royal family who lived in a home where they stole to support themselves wasn't a common occurrence. "Well then um I will manage the sleeping arrangements."
Prince merely gave a head nod. It was not a very pleasant environment surrounding them.
He lied on the mattress and asked " Where will you sleep then?" "I am waiting for my grandson prince please take a rest. We will just shelter on my neighbours saying there's some problem in our roof". She closed the the door holding a fire stick gave a little smile and went away. Prince's heavy eyelids also closed putting end to all the exhaustion.
*****flashback ends**************
He smiles gratefully and takes the water that was placed in front of him. Even though it was early in the morning, there was a lot of noise.
Prince observed the elderly woman picking up the nearly empty jug from the ground and refilling it with water from the pot. "Looks like people in your area are quite active and busy inside the palace the only noise that could be heard at this hour is horse neighing," the prince remarked.
"Yes, this is nothing new—people here are hardworking and the majority of them are farmers—but as Prince may not be aware, we villagers have a celebration to honor the Rain God for giving us the valuable water and preventing the land from being barren.
The majority of the young people pitch in to build and draw the chariot as we pull it throughout the village. This morning, my grandson went there as well after getting water from the closest well."
All he could say in response was "OH." Her grandson was here previously; is he aware that I unexpectedly showed up at his house?
Furthermore, the Prince was unaware of this festival, despite his strong desire to attend.
Lady asked with optimism, "If Prince wants to join, that would be great honor for us." Rejecting the offer with a heavy heart, he said, "It would be my honor to participate in such a holy festival but I cannot reveal my identity so hope you understand."
"As you say Prince" . A door being opened was audible to them.
"Taehyung my son, you're here," exclaimed an elderly woman who was apparently a thief.
Prince Jungkook heard that and repeated "TAEHYUNG, Kim Taehyung" while looking at the figure entering inside the hut.
Name : Kim Taehyung
