"Oh my gosh, yes!" Adriana claps in her hands, her smile vibrant. "You totally have to wear that one! You look freaking amazing!"

"Hm, I don't know." I look at myself in the mirror and hold another dress over the one I'm wearing right now. "Maybe the black one is better? It draws less attention."

"I'm getting funeral vibes."

I turn to her to find her sitting on her bed, it could fit her at least three times and had fake pink and white flowers tied to the golden frames.

"That's good right?"

"...No."

With a soft sigh I hang the long black dress back on the reck.

Adriana and I had spent the entire afternoon in her bedroom, fishing through the huge selection of gowns, dresses and even suits that Dante had brought in for me to choose out of.

Usually I had an outfit picked out in no time, considering the weather, preferences of my date and the style that fit my character. But since I was going as myself I had no idea what to do and what to like.

The knowledge that I'd be seeing Josette, Tobias and Lester this night didn't ease my nerves in the slightest.

And even though I know it'd be more reasonable to be afraid of facing the man who left me to die and the man who'd betrayed me after seven years of trust – I couldn't help but notice that neither of those men where on the forefront of my mind.

Neither was Josette.

All I could think about was the very same man who'd send me all these clothes and shoes and jewelry to try on.

The man who'd driven to me in the middle of the night and stood in a dirty toilet stall for more than an hour just to calm me down.

The man who beat the shit out of someone who'd tried to hurt me.

The man who hadn't looked at me ever since last night.

After snapping out of my flashback attack, I found myself inside laying on the floor with two dogs keeping me company and a familiar stoic face above me.

When Dr. Amani started asking me some questions, Dante instantly left and I hadn't seen him since.

I only know he still wanted to go to the mayor's event because he send all this stuff over. Otherwise I would have assumed he wanted nothing to do with his plan or me anymore.

"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god!"

Adriana walks up to me with a big necklace in her hands. The dogs laying at my feet look up at her when she nears me and holds the piece of jewelry out.

"You have to wear this with it!"

The necklace is made out of three straps of pearls that go around my throat like a choker. The earrings she'd picked out have an emerald green stone in them and it matches with the color of my dress.

Adriana makes a funny noise and jumps up and down in delight. "Yes!" she says. "This is it. This is the look. Oh my gosh you're going to kill them!"
