The lavender head was sitting in the nearby park from their house. While hus siblings played with each other, running in the park, he sat on a bench, with a dairy in his hands, he hummed a few notes and wrote it down. Actually, Alec had a passion for music. He never got to learn properly from a institution since his mother was dead against these. She would scold even take away his dairy if she found out about it. So, the times she's not home, ( which is usually all day) Alec would practice. He learnt from his school's music teacher, Ms. Lee. She taught him everything he knowns.
So, here he was trying out something again humming a few notes as he wrote it down. The dairy was his sole mean of music. He had an old guitar which helped. Now, he smiled in satisfaction when the right notes were written down and the song he was trying out was complete.
The blonde approached, with a thin smile plastered on his face. Alec greeted, but he could tell something was wrong. So, building up the courage, he spoke, " Are you okay?"
Louis nodded, " Yup. Just..-" he stopped midway and hus voice trailed off. Alec put his hand on his shoulder, as a gesture of comfort, " You don't have to tell me. It's okay." As a response, he recieved a sigh from the blonde, he looked at him, " Thanks."
After a while, the atmosphere between the two lightened up a bit. A ginger haired girl ran up to Alec and started to pull his hand, " Come on! Play with us!" Alec soon patted her head and told him he couldn't.
" You see this guy-" he pointed at Louis, which caught his attention and he looked at the girl, she was adorable . Her pale skin, chubby cheeks and emerald eyes , and freckled cheeks accompanied by a warm smile. She had a red bow in her hair which made her hair stand out more. She pouted in annoyance when her brother rejected her offer. Another boy came running, " So?! He's coming right??" He asked, still panting a bit. He also had lavender hair with a few strands of ginger, he had an adorable smile accompanied by a rosy cheeks and a few freckles were visible, his skin was quite tanned. Louis still found it quite cute. After the girl informed him about his brother not wanting to play with them, both looked at Alec, now giving him the most adorable looks in hopes of convincing him, to no avail.
Then, a small argument started when their brother couldn't play with them. Louis watched, holding in a laugh as his friend was basically being pulled up from the bench by two toddlers.
One looked at him, the young boy, he approached him, " Are you brother's friend..? " Louis gave a small nod, as the boy's eyes sparkled in joy or--- excitement to be exact.
" He has friend?!" The boy exclaimed out. Alec and the ginger girl put a halt in their pulling process. Alec turned red in embarrassment and quickly gave a small patt on the younger brother's head. " Tyler!" Louis laughed out loud, covering his face. The girl also laughed. Alec watched them with a look giving away the clear massage of, " are you serious"
After a minute they stopped and the girl, named Lily now pulled Tyler to the slides now, guess both had accepted the fact that their brother won't be playing with them.
Alec sat down again, letting out a sigh. " your siblings are adorable." Louis remarked, which only received a frown from the other boy. " stay with them for a whole day and you won't be saying that." He replied. Louis as an answer was going to say something but soon his eyes fell on the dairy. " What's that..?" He asked pointing at it. Alec looked down, realising it was his dairy, Louis was pointing at, he picked it up on his lap, " My dairy." He simply said. " I write music here." He added. Louis's looked at it curiously, " You learn music?? I didn't know that!" He remarked again, his tone giving away his excitement. Alec grinned slightly, at his friend's excitement. " I don't learn it from any institution or anything." He simply said. " Just Ms. Lee taught me." He finished with a sigh. Oh, how he wished he could also learn from a proper institution.
Louis nodded in understanding, although he did have the question why Alec doesn't learn music if he likes it, but he never got the courage to ask, considering his friend was already kinda gloomy.
" Can you sing one?" Louis pointed at his dairy, which made the lavender head look at him. " My.. songs aren't that great." Louis nodded his head, disagreement was clear in his voice.
" I'll never know, unless I hear it!" He said, with enthusiasm, which made a small smile appear in his friend's face.
Soon enough, he sang. It was mesmerising. From hearing it, you couldn't tell he wasn't a trained singer. Louis got lost in the voice, which was gentle yet skillful. He felt his cheeks reddened up. What is going on with his feelings..? Is he-... No no.
The song ended and Alec found his friend looking at him, dazed. He couldn't help but smile. " How's it?" He asked, making the blonde snap out of his thoughts. " It was so good!" Then he showered the boy with compliments and told him how amazing he was. In between these complements, Alec obviously felt flattered but then a few words came to his mind,
" You'll never achieve anything."
" Useless, brat.."
" Music is useless."
" Grow up."
" Freak."
All of that and echoing laughter. His family would never support him, his friends had never been more of a traitor, he was all alone. He had no one.
All of those thoughts made his smile turn into a frown. Tears pricked his eyes which he immediately blinked away. It was the first time someone had said anything nice to him.
" I don't get why you don't learn properly!" The blonde's complains brought him back to reality. He gave him a small grin, and changed the topic.
Days had passed, and Louis was absent in the school. Alec called him after school, and asked him what was wrong, to which he got no certain reply, only his mother was sick and he hung up. " Strange."
After hanging up the call, Alec found it strange. He'd never talk like that. " His mother is sick?" He thought to himself. " Maybe I should pay a visit."
A few days later, in the Williams resident, Louis had just got back from his tution classes, when his mother greeted him. She had shoulder length blonde hair, and owner of a pair of beautiful sapphire eyes, accompanied by heavy eyebags. She was confined to a wheelchair, ever since her illness has become more severe, she has been unable to walk on her own due to weakness. Despite all these, a warm welcoming smile was always plastered on her lips.
" How was your day, hun?" She asked. Louis walked over to her and placed his head on her lap, with his bag still on his back. She gave a slight ruffle to his already quite messy blonde hair. Snuggling in more, he did let out a muffled answer to her question, however, she was unable to make out what her son had said to her. " I don't think I understood a word you said, hun." She said, running her fingers through her son's hair. Now, lifting up his head, Louis repeated again, " It was okay."
Although, Louis was more of a serious guy, he wouldn't skip a moment to spend with his mother. After his father was imprisoned for illegal business, she was the only one he had. Fear of losing her was slowly killing him.
The last time they had gone for cheeking, the doctor clearly informed him---
" Prepare for the worst, boy."
All these thoughts made Louis's smile quiver into a rather sad frown. As if Mrs. Williams could read his mind, she cupped his face, gently--
" We can't change the future, Louis." She said, now running her fingers through his hair, as he rested his head on her lap again, " What we can do, is make the most of it." She finished, leaning back on the wheelchair, tears pricking her eyes. " Guess what's for snacks today??"she playfully asked, trying to ease the gloomy atmosphere.
Louis looked at her, tilting her head a bit, his confused expressions received a giggle from Mrs. Williams.
" What?" He asked back. His mom leaned a bit to him, with a teasing tone she told him to take a guess.
" Cookies?"
" Nope."
" Pancakes? "
" No."
" Crakers?"
" Really?"
" Right. Uhm-.. sandwich?"
" Finally."
And hearing that made a the gloominess vanish in a second. His eyes sparkled up in joy. " My favourite!" He exclaimed. Mrs. Williams once again let out a sigh and a gentle smile crept on her face.
" Go get fresh. Your sandwich is waiting for you." She said, and before she could even finish he ran towards his room to get fresh. She just shook her head gently.
" Oh Louis. What would you do once I'm gone, my boy? Who would take care of you..? "
Suddenly the calling bell rang, and she was surprised. She wasn't expecting any guests today? Well, either way she opened the door to find a boy with lavender hair, he had a basket of fruits in his hand and was looking a bit nervous.
" Who are you young man?" She asked. The boy, a bit awkwardly smiled and introduced himself as Louis's friend. She welcomed him with a smile and both got in. Alec was a bit concerned over the fact Mrs. Williams was on a wheelchair. " Is she that sick? Now I feel bad." He thought to himself.
Alec handed her the basket of fruits and with a smile as he explained, " Louis told me you were sick. So, I thought of paying a visit." A sweet smile crept on her face as she took the basket from the boy, " Kind of you young man." She said.
" You?" Louis got to the living room and saw Alec talking with his mother. He approached them. The lavender head looked at him, he again smiled awkwardly, " You told me-" he was cut off by Mrs. Williams,
" Louis, such a sweet friend you have." She stated at him, Louis nodded, and scratched his head, " Uhm- yea. He's nice."
" I'll leave now. I'm sorry for coming here so suddenly." Alec now said. Mrs. Williams stopped the boy, and told him to eat with them. Although, Alec refused at first, but soon gave in as he couldn't say no to such a sweet lady as Mrs. Williams.
They were currently sitting around the table. Louis was talking to him a minute before Mrs. Williams's voice rose over them, " Don't talk while eating, boys." She remarked firmly. While eating, Alec noticed how much of a loving mother Mrs. Williams was. She cared for her son, loved him, gave him attention he deserves... While his mother? Quite the opposite.
Tears pricked his eyes, as he watched them. He was happy Louis had a mother, but there was still a feeling of sadness lingering his heart. Did he not deserve to be loved...?
After eating, Alec excused himself and left the house. Although, Louis insisted on him staying, he couldn't or---
He gulped at the possibilities of incidents taking place at his house if he didn't reach there before his mother came back. He ran through the streets, panting and sweating he reached his home. As he entered, praying for his mother's absence in the house, his skipped a beat when he entered the living room.
There was his mother, yelling at his siblings, and those poor children were crying in fear and shivering. His mother, as in Mrs. Smith, was trembling on her own steps acting out. His sight fell on the smashed bottle of alcohol on the floor.
Alec's POV:
She drank again, didn't she? She told me she would quit... she promised me.. then why? Does she at least not care about Tyler and Lily..? What would they----
His thoughts were interrupted as his mother dared to raise her hand on her young children. Alec was quick enough to save his siblings from the hard slap that was coming from their mother. " Mom, don't hit them!" He wailed out. She shot him a look, which made him regret raising his voice. Soon a slapping sound was made, then again and again until his face turned red and tears flowed down the reddening cheeks. His siblings tried to stop their mother, but they couldn't.
Mrs. Smith proceeded with her drunken lectures, including coming home late, 'late'.. It was 7:30 in the evening. Alec found his heart shatter when the words were spoken to him--
" You should be grateful to have a roof above your head! Quit that stupidity!! Burn those dairies of music or whatever you have! Or else I'll do that myself!!"
He sobbed silently, looking down facing the floor. He bit his lips to stop the sobbing, he had to stay strong, for his siblings.
Mrs. Smith went to her room, pinching the bridge of her nose in annoyance, as she stormed off to her room. It was his daily schedule. His siblings hugged him and three of them sobbed.
After a while, Alec kneeled down, and comforted them, " I'm fine. Go to your room." They nodded, and went to their rooms although their little hearts were shattered by the harsh treatment of her mother.
" Burn those dairies of music or whatever you have or else I'll do it myself." Those words shivers down his spine, as more tears escaped. He had no one. His mother--- strict, too strict, father, all he ever received from the man was cold shoulder, his siblings...? Hah, their too young. Was he really that undeserving of love?
