A/N: Hi, it's Staila. I'm really sorry for not not posting anything for so long. I was on a vacation with my family and was gone for a while. Well, now that I'm back, "Free Fledglings" is back on track! Let's start where we left it, shall we?

"Unfortunately, Alec Smith, has been subjected to domestic abuse. From the information we collected from the children, it had been going on for a long time now. You adressed yourself as the patient's friend, correct?"
Taken aback by the sudden overwhelming emotions he felt after hearing the news, Louis was left speechless for a few minutes. He just nodded his head at the cops words still struggling to form words.
" You'd need to attend interrogation sessions when the patient is more stable." The cop explained. The blonde again nodded. As he looked at the young siblings, they were a sobbing mess. Lily being the older sister of Tyler, was trying to comfort her brother, however, was too engaged into sobbing as the scenes crossed her mind of her mother brutally burning everything her brother valued.
Louis approached them. He pat both their heads and squat down to their height. Their crying faces really broke his heart, " they're so young.. they don't deserve this.." He thought but let out a sigh, as he was unable to do anything.
Lily and Tyler fell asleep on the chairs of the waiting room. Louis let out a slight chuckle, as he watched their adorable faces. He considered them nothing less than his own siblings. His smile, though, soon was quivered into a frown as the panic rose up again. He was anxious.. about his mother's sudden health deterioration and the fact that she's gonna leave so soon. Alec's past was clear like daylight to him now.. why he always covered up.. why he was never open.. why he didn't get to know him much.. All was clear now.
He felt bad, but at the same time was  clueless why he told no one about this earlier.
When his mind was racing through these thoughts , a group of doctors came out. " Anyone from Alec Smith?"
Louis stood up. " I am. "
" The patient is stable now but needs rest. Try not to put any pressure on him and once he's stable enough he would have to participate in interrogation sessions with the police. Please inform him that." The doctor explained. Louis was somewhat relieved to hear that Alec's condition being stable. He nodded as the doctors walked away.
He made his way to the room where Alec lied--- room 405.
As he entered the room first the cool wind of the AC hit him, making him shiver a bit. The atmosphere of the room was gloomy and lonesome, as Alec was the oy one laying there. Damn, he didn't even have any visitors, does he not have any relatives at least?
    Louis's POV:
I looked at him, he was kinda pale and was hooked up to a few mechines including an IV. Hasn't woken up yet, I see. Well, I should drop off Lily and Tyler to their home now. It's getting late.
He walked out of the room to the young Smith siblings. They were still peacefully sleeping on the chairs, getting comfortable in each other's embrace. A slight smile made its way to Louis's lips. He gently shook them awake and brought them to his house. " Maybe after what happened, their house won't be good for them." He thought to himself.
After heading back home, he noticed some bruises on both and quickly patched it up. Then, it was time he headed back to hispital. Siana also was brought home by the neighbors so she was with them as well.
As Louis headed back, he visited his mother. She was soundly sleeping. As he watched, he couldn't help but let the sobs out, and letting the pain take over. The news was shocking, to say the least. When Siana asks about her mother, what is he going to tell her? That she's leaving them just in few days? No.. He didn't have the heart to do that.
The day, 2nd April, became the worst day of his 18 year of life. He will lose his mother.. he almost lost his only friend... he was about to lose everything.
" We can't change the future, honey. All we can do is, make the best of it. "
His mother's words rang in his ear. He calmed himself down and looked at his mother, unaware of all pain, sleeping so peacefully..
" I'll take care of everything, mom. I promise."
After a while, he went to Alec again, to check if he was awake yet. He was. He was sitting on the bed, half leaning on the pillows supporting his sitting position. He was looking out of the window. The sight, made Louis's heart flutter, he wasn't sure why.
He approached, " Hey, how're you feeling now?" He asked, trying to sound as casual as possible. He watched as the numb expression of the lavender head turned into a rather shocked face.
" You..? " was the first words he managed to choke out, his voice was hoarse. Sitting on a stool beside the bed, Louis nodded his head.
    Alec's POV:
What I feared the most had now come true. I always feared Louis finding out about my family issues and thinking me as a freak like everyone else does. But, after what happened today, I didn't expect it to be a secret anymore. I have a blurry memory of hearing the cops as I gradually lost my senses. Wait-- my siblings!
" Is- Lily and Tyler okay??" His sudden raise of voice startled the blonde a bit. But, he just nodded his head. " They're at my house. Don't worry. " he reassured. Alec let out a sigh of relief, knowing his siblings were okay. " They didn't get much hurt right?"
A vivid memory of Lily trying to fight off her mother and Tyler joining came to his mind. He couldn't protect them.. he was too hurt to do anything.
Again Louis shook his head. " They're fine." He simply said. He watched, as his friend winced in pain when he, himself, tried to move around his arm which was injured.
" Don't move around so much. You're going to hurt yourself." Louis said, carefully getting his arm back on it's spot. " You know.. all of that, don't you? " Alec asked as he looked at his friend, his eyes were glossy.
Louis again nodded. He couldn't tell what it was with him that he couldn't talk much. He was too afraid of saying the wrong things and hurting his friend. " I'm sorry this happened to you." He said, his head hanging low and fingers fidgeting. A small smile crept on Alec's face.
Of course, anyone would pity us after what happened. It's the same.
" The cops said, once you're stable enough, you'd have to have to have a session of interrogation about--" he trailed off at the end, knowing damn well he didn't need to finish the sentence for Alec to understand. Alec nodded. As this coversation was going on, someone barged in the room, looking like they had run all the way here.
It was man, he had a slight mustache, ginger hair and black eyes, accompanied with prominet dark circles around them. He wore a formal clothing indicating, he was either a business man or some employee of an office.
Louis failed to recognise the man, and looked at Alec for answers. To his surprise, Alec's face had soured. His gaze sharp and jaw tightened. He seemed... afraid..?
Who do you think this man is?
