A Thousand Years

Chapter 2

The next day in the morning Kaveh woke up and about to leave with king Deshret until someone knocked on the door.

He then opened it as king Deshret walked out of view and saw it was just a woman.

Woman : kaveh we saw you were here and I wanted to know if you could help me with something"

Kaveh : of course anything?"

Woman : thank you so much. It's my roof it's a bit damage"

Kaveh : no worries I'll take care of it"

Kaveh then got Mehrak and left with the woman leaving king Deshret alone who said nothing but decided to follow kaveh in secret.

Later Kaveh was helping the woman fix her roof while also getting ask to help out with other things. And despite hai situation he was happy to help them.

He couldn't understand how given the circumstances of everything how Kaveh could pretend everything was fine. How he could care more about others more than himself especially right now.

But as Kaveh was taking a break king Deshret stood next to him hidden behind a wall.

King Deshret : aren't you upset about what's happening? That your friend could be potentially be dead. That the world could be ending?"

Kaveh : you said you could fix everything so I'm trusting you will. Better than panicking..... despite anything I'm feeling or dealing at the moment.

Hope is all I have so there's nothing else I can do. Helping them distracts me and there's no reason to scare them. Nobody needs to know what's coming"

King Deshret. : you're very strong in that regard. Can't tell if I should be scared or impressed. Both are good though "

Kaveh : ......thanks I guess"

King Deshret : i-

Suddenly a small boy bumped into king Deshret and looked up at him as king Deshret starred down at him.

Boy 1 : ......who are you?"

Kaveh. : I.....ummm this is just my friend h-

Suddenly more kids showed up and a couple of them immediately knew who he was.

Boy 2 : are you King Deshret?"

Girl 1 : we heard stories about you!"

Suddenly all the kids looked really excited and asking a bunch of questions. And as Kaveh tried to politely walk away with King Deshret his hood camp fell down revealing his face to everyone.

Both Kaveh and King Deshret froze unsure what to do as everyone looked either excited confused or scared.

King Deshret didn't want to make his presence known and wasn't sure how his Image was all this time later but he didn't want to worry or scare anyone.

One of the kids then asked walking over not seeming scared.

Boy 2 : the legends said you were come when something bad was going to happen"

King Deshret : I will not lie something is coming. But I can assure you that everything will be fine and all of you will be safe. I intend to keep that promise."

Kaveh : I need to speak to you a moment"

King Deshret then followed Kaveh away from everyone.

Once alone Kaveh said.

Kaveh : the desert won't be safe will it"

King Deshret : what is going on is starting in the desert and will spread throughout sumeru and further.

They should leave but we both know they won't"

Kaveh : then we need to do something for them"

King Deshret : i think it's best I stay in the desert. Sumeru has their Archon."

Kaveh : I'm staying with you like I said earlier"

King Deshret : this could be dangerous being near me is"

Kaveh : I can take care of myself Deshret"

King Deshret : I do believe you can."

Kaveh : I don't know what could be coming but I'm sure I can help strengthen the homes  build something between them and the danger"

King Deshret : you are going to be a big help. More than you know"

Later everyone arrived and King Deshret and Kaveh met with them outside the village. And as King Deshret saw Nahida bow down respectfully and then said.

Nahida : no need for that. King Deshret."

King Deshret : i assume they informed you"

Nahida: sense and I'm aware something was happening for awhile now but I don't know what."

King Deshret : I know one thing it has to be involved with the heavenly principles. somehow"

Nahida : I have to agree. It does seem likely"

Kaveh : what we do know it's starting from here in the desert. Which puts everyone here in the face of the danger"

King Deshret:  I intend to stay to help. There's no reason I need to leave the desert anyway"

Aether : we'll help as well. Me and paimon can go out and warn others"

King Deshret : very well"

Later as everyone was busy helping to protect everyone king Deshret was on his own thinking as Nahida walked over.

Nahida :you didn't mention everything"

King Deshret : for now it's best I don't":

Nahida: is that why you lied to him"

King Deshret : it wasn't a lie....."

Nahida: but you don't know if he's alive"

King Deshret: he has to have hope. I know what grief can do and this will not end well especially for him. If he knows Al Haitham's fate"

Nahida : it's going to hurt more...."

King Deshret : I have no choice. Please trust me. Let me deal with the repercussions"

Nahida : okay. But I'm here to help."
