It was quite the learning process. As the week had progressed, you had indeed learned a little about how a proper hero headquarters worked. Managing to reserve your phone battery throughout the days of no electricity. It resulted in very small communication with you and Katsuki, mainly good night texts or some ranting about Best Jeanist by your combustion boi.

You learned patrol patterns that are best for accurate perception and ground coverage. One day as you were patrolling near the village edge you found a small lizard. It must have been a baby from how small it was. It was struggling to get out of a small but deep puddle, so you reached down and helped it out. You held it in your hand and just admired it, it was about the size of your palm with a heart marking on the top of its head that led to a trail of spots down its back. You had to fight the urge to take it back to the HQ with you as you gently put it back on the ground and gave it a pat on the head.

----

As you trained with Shadow Samurai, you recalled Korra mentioning something about lightening footsteps with air-bending, though it was a lot trickier to get the handle on that. However, you learned how to be light on your feet without using your bending.

On a ceiling beam, you perched yourself while observing a figure below. You followed the figure throughout the room, trying to stay silent. Making a little sound, you moved from beam to beam. You looked down at the markings you made to remember how to shift your weight on each beam. However, when you moved to a closer beam, you misplaced your hand, and it creaked ever so slightly. As soon as that happened, a shadow engulfed your hand, and you plummeted to the ground. Out of instinct, you blew a gust of air to soften your fall as you landed on the floor.

"You've improved greatly. Remember, your reflexes matter even when discovered," Isamu spoke as she helped you up.

"I guess I also need to work on my speed?" You asked. Isamu chuckled and nodded.

"That is a lot simpler in spirit. Speed is a lot more nuanced when adding stealth." She said as she patted your head and gestured for you to follow her as she walked out of the room.

"But it's not only skill you need to focus on, you have to remember in a real situation of rescue you have more than yourself at risk." She added as you walked to her office.

"Right, rescuing needs to be precise and quick." You added with what you have learned earning a nod from Shadow Samurai.

"As our week of internship comes to an end I hope you have learned some valuable skills and knowledge to apply to your education journey. Not everything is black and white, nothing is as it seems, and you must stay alert at all times." She said as she dismisses you.

"You sound like the sages I grew up with" You laughed.

"They sound wise young Avatar." She says and bows. You return the bow.

"By the way, may I ask you something?" You speak up.

"Of course. What's on your mind?" She replied.

"Is it always this slow here? I would have thought we would have gone on some missions by now." You say looking around at the HQ full of interns and employees.

"It is...I am a low rank hero after all. We rarely get big jobs, the higher heroes do those. Villains also tend to attack the heart of the big cities. I prefer to stay in my village and help out towns close by, someone has to protect the outer towns." she explains, "But the business side is just as important as the action, the research we do help us get steps ahead any burgeoning villain." she smiled as she gestured to the hard working people in her office.

You smiled to yourself at the people hard at work, some may not be heroes but they do so much for little recognition some would say that is even more heroic than the spotlight. You made a note to yourself to not let their hard work be for nothing, you'll do your best as a hero and as the Avatar.
