So many of you are familiar with these two movies, Tarzan and Frozen, but have you heard about the theory going around about the main characters for both movies?
Well, if you haven't I will tell you the theory, and that is: "Tarzan is Elsa and Anna's younger brother." I just have to say that I don't believe in this theory myself, because it doesn't makes sense, and in this chapter I will tell why I don't believe in it, and also what make others believe that this is true. Then in the end of the chapter, I will tell you what Disney has said about it.
The Parents' Deaths:
Let us start with the parents' death, because I admitted that they are similar to one another, but they're still so different than what some people might think.
For those of us who has seen the movie Tarzan knows that his parents didn't die aboard on the ship, and that the ship was on fires when they escaped with a baby Tarzan, then they ship sank. Tarzan's parents escpaed to the jungle/island and searched for shelter, then found it in a tree for the night. They are later seen being killed by a leopard, in their little tree house, so they're were killed by a leopard and not by going down with the sinking ship.
Now we move over to look at King Agnarr and Queen Iduna's deaths, like how they died and why they were on the ship. As I said, they both sets of parents' deaths are similar to one another, as King Agnarr and Queen Iduna was also on the ship, but it is confirmed that they were on their way to Rapunzel's wedding in Corona, Germany. Now to the differences from Tarzan's parents' death, and the first difference is that King Agnarr and Queen Iduna's ship was not on fire when it sank because if it was we would have seen that in the sequence when the boat sank in Frozen, and the second movie shows what the king and queen were doing on the ship before they died, meaning that they didn't escape the sinking boat.
The Similarites
I'm well aware that this theory also comes from that many fans and people in generally thinks that the parents in the respective movie look very similar to each other, and almost identical.
So this is the next point we'll talk about, and let's start with the two fathers in respective movies, then finishing off with the mothers.
First things first, King Agnarr has blond-ish hair and a very small moustach, while Tarzan's father has brown-ish hair and a bigger moutasch, and if theese two were the same person, I doubt that Agnarr's hair would have changed color or that he moustasch would have gotten bigger on their time on the boat. I know that we don't know how long they were on that ship before it sank, but as they're traveling from Norway to Germany, I don't think that is enough time for him to get a chair change and to grow a moustasch.
Let's get over to the mothers. Let's start with Queen Iduna, who has brown hair, while Tarzan's mother has a brown/ginger hair, and as I said about the fathers, I doubt that Iduna's hair had the chance to change color on her and her husband's time on the ship. Another difference to them is that Iduna wears her hair in a bun, while Tarzan's mom wears it straight down. I know that she can just take it out, I'm pretty sure that she died wearing her hair in a bun, as it looks complicated to get it out of the bun to wear it down, and then back in the bun again.
The Nationalities
When it comes to the nationalites, you can just do research where it takes place mostly, but in this case you can only do that with Frozen, and not with Tarzan. The Frozen parents are norweigans, as it takes place in Norway, in Arendelle.
Now the Tarzan parents' nationality is not much known to the world, as it never gets involved in the movie, but any disney fan would know, and after some research, I've the answer to their nationality, which is British, so this is were the theory clashes once again.
Before anyone comments "you know that you can have multiple noationalites, right?", and yes I'm aware of that, but I don't think that King Agnarr, Queen Iduna, nor Tarzan's parents have genes from the other nationalites.
The Timeline
The majority of Frozen takes place in 1843s, meaning that King Agnarr and Queen Iduna died in 1840-ish, while Tarzan is set in the early 1900s, which means that Tarzan's parents died in the late 1880s, possible in the late 1990s.
So, you all can do the math that for these four to be the same person, it must have taken Agnarr and Iduna something like 40 years for them to get to Germany from Norway. I also don't think that they would have sail from Norway, through Africa, and then to Germany, because it would just have been an unnecessary boat ride, and it would have taken weeks, possible months when they can just across the sea and through Denmark, which would maybe have taken a few days, maximum a week.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this theory got shut down by co-director Chris Buch, confirmed on the 20th-anniversary panel for Tarzan at D23, that the theory is false, and the characters are not related to each other. Then the co-director of Frozen, Jennifer Lee, also shut down the theory, by saying that the characters have no relation to each other, and that Tarzan is not Elsa and Anna's lost brother.
Another thing is that Disney is an expert on Easter Eggs in their movies, as there have been several movies where other Disney characters or subjects has appeared. This also means that more movies can be connected if we think about it, as they have the same things or characters appearing in movies, but an explaination to this is that it's Disney's way of rewarding their observed fans and to create a connection to their other works, but not it be that characters' are related or in the same universe. Disney just wanted to have a similarity between their movies, and to make it recongnizable for the world, so they know that this is a Disney movie.
Now, I will finish off with my personal opinion, on this, which is pretty easy, because after all my research and that I'm this huge Disney fan, I don't believe that this is true, because as I have stated there are to many difficulties between the movies and the parents for it to be true. I also don't believe in it because that Disney themselves has said that it is false, so I believe that we should trust Disney's words on these kind of things, as they are the ones who knows best if their characters are related or not. With this said, I have realized that unless Disney themselves says that it's false, or come out with a confirmation I don't believe in the theories, but also because of research on the subject, obviously.
This was everything from me, about the Tarzan-Frozen theory, now you have gotten some words on different things, Disney's words, my opinion, so let me hear your opinions, if you believe in it or not, or if you have heard something I didn't bring up. I also hope that you appreciate this, and would love to see more stuff like this, or something else involving Disney :)
