"Lizzie, can we talk?"
Elizabeth brought the book to her lap. Anthony stood before her. His hands were in his pockets, his hair was a mess, and his feet kicked at the loose pebbles at his feet.
"Anthony, is everything all right?" she asked, sliding over on the stone bench for the boy to join her.
"No," he answered after a brief pause and sighed loudly. "Everything is not all right. I need to apologize."
"Anthony, you don't-"
"Yes," he interrupted, holding a hand up to silence her. "Sorry, I have been thinking a lot. I have to get this off my chest."
The warm summer air blustered through the courtyard. Elizabeth quickly scanned its entirety, thankful the few Hogwarts students who wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather were scattered too far away to eavesdrop on their conversation.
"All right," Elizabeth folder her hands on her lap, giving Anthony her undivided attention.
"Ever since the second term started, I've been the worst possible boyfriend," he began, wringing his hands together. "The quidditch match made it even worse. I was angry, I was jealous. I was incredibly rude to you when all you were trying to do was help me feel better. You are the most amazing person, so kind and considerate; I didn't even stop to think how my actions were hurting you. I am so, so sorry. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to break up with me after the last few months, but I promise I'm going to make myself better this summer. Be the boyfriend you deserve because you are the best. I hope you know that, and I hope you can forgive me."
"Wow, Anthony," Elizabeth said. "Of course, I accept your apology."
"Really?" the boy's head snapped up in surprise. He didn't expect her to forgive her so easily.
"Of course," Elizabeth smiled. "And I haven't been the best girlfriend either. I'm sure-"
"If I may," Anthony spoke. "You have been nothing but brilliant. Don't change how wonderful you are."
"That is very sweet of you to say," she said, leaning over to kiss him on his blushing cheek.
"Oh, well," Anthony stammered, rubbing the back of his neck. "Um, how do you think you did on your exams?"
"I'd like to say fairly decently," Elizabeth answered. "Although, I have a feeling, I confused a few things on the History of Magic exam."
"I bet you aced it," Anthony stated simply. "I'll see you at the party tonight. Sing a duet with me?"
"I'd be honored."
Like a new man, Anthony beamed with pride, kissed Elizabeth quickly on the lips, and rushed back into the castle. Elizabeth beamed. Not quite how she imagined their conversation to go, but she was happy with how it turned out.
Sometime later, Elizabeth caught sight of Harry, Hermione, and Ron making their way towards her. The girl's eyes widened at the sight of her brother hobbling down the steps with a cast on his leg and a crutch under his arm.
"Ron?" she jumped to her feet, immediately rushing to his side. "What happened?"
"You wouldn't believe us if we told you," Harry answered as the quad placed the injured Weasley on the bench.
"Try me," she looked at her twin's leg. "So what, you were attacked by a dog or something?"
Three pairs of eyes bulged in horror and glanced at one another.
"Oh for Merlin's sake," Elizabeth groaned. "What did the three of you get into this time? And why is it always at the end of term before we go home for the summer?"
