Moonfall's POV
It struck me like a lightning bolt from a clear sky when the realization dawned upon me that Lillypetal had passed away.
And out of all the possible felines who could have ended her life, it had to be Sol, that foolish renegade of a cat who had incited my father's clan against us. "You!" I exclaimed sharply and advanced towards him, my tail bristling with indignation, my gray fur standing on end. Sol simply gazed into my eyes, an unsettling mix of amusement and malice in his piercing gaze. "I see you hold affection for this young one," he sneered, flicking his tail disdainfully. "Her sire is a traitor and a murderer." I blinked in disbelief. Was he referring to Scourge? But that feline had perished long ago!
"Do not speak of the past," Lionblaze hissed. "All we know now is that you have taken the life of our daughter, and you shall be held accountable to ThunderClan for this!"
Sol scoffed, "I did not end her life," he said calmly, licking away the blood from his claws. "I merely granted her passage to the afterlife, where your revered StarClan is incapable of claiming her." He smirked and turned his gaze towards me once more. "Besides, StarClan is no longer amongst the living. Why bother offering prayers to a deity that no longer exists?"
That was the moment that ignited a fire within me, and without hesitation, I struck him across the face. "You murderer!" I yelled at the top of my lungs, feeling the rage and fury building inside me like a blazing inferno. Mystical energy surged from within me, bubbling in my throat, and the seething anger turned into molten lava spewing from my jaws. It scorched the grass beneath my paws, incinerating everything in its path and creating a barrier between me, my kits, and my mate. But I remained unfazed, staring at Sol with intense hatred - the one who had taken the life of my first kit, my daughter, blood or not.
Without waiting for a moment of hesitation or the flames of fury to rise, I swiftly slashed at his face, this time tearing off one ear, causing it to fall to the ground in a bloody heap, still bleeding profusely.
I stared at him, my voice filled with menace. "Leave and never return, for I should kill you. But I have fulfilled what Starclan desires, so depart!" I turned my head away, exhaling a cloud of heavy smoke.
For I was a dragon of integrity, not of demise, nor of enmity.
I select my allegiance to my clan, not to him. For I am a steadfast ThunderClan warrior, unyielding to the one who extinguished the sun.
