Your POV
(Present)
You groan, reaching out to silence your alarm as it echoes through the room. You rolled out of bed, falling face-first onto the ground. The door opened, revealing your Aunt with an unamused frown. You sheepishly chuckled as she spoke, "Are you serious, Y/N? I swear you're getting lazier every day." You regain your footing and shoot your Aunt a look. "Not helping," You muttered as you went to get ready. After getting into your clothes and stumbling into the kitchen, you inhale your breakfast, the sweet/salty flavours swirling in your mouth, making you internally groan in pleasure. As you savoured the taste in your mouth, your eyes began to droop again, but your Aunt kept you on your toes. As you took your last bite, you stood up, your chair scraping on the floor. You grabbed your bag and began to walk out of the apartment. But you stopped when you heard your Aunt clear her throat. You groaned and spun around to face your Aunt, giving her a questioning look.
"What is it?" You asked, your shoulders slumped, your bag almost falling off your shoulders. She gave you an eye roll and pointed to your shirt, which you had put on inside out while you were still tired. You groaned. You drop your bag and head back to the bathroom. You flipped the shirt around and came out; your f/p (favourite picture/print) was now visible on your f/c shirt. You grabbed your bag and walked out the door, saying goodbye to your Aunt as she got ready for work.
You went down the stairs, entering Casey's floor. As you expected, his younger sister stood in front of the front door, fiddling with her bottle. In the holidays, Casey introduced you to his younger sister, Cassie (I don't know if she has an official name, but this is my head-cannon). He had asked you to drop his sister off at her school since he was always late, and Cassie's school starts earlier than yours and Casey's. The young girl looked up at you as you approached her, putting her bottle into her bag. "Come on, we don't want to be late for the bus," You say, waiting for Cassie to follow you. But she stood there stubbornly, a huge frown on her face. "I don't want to go..." She grumbled, not looking up at you. You raised an eyebrow, silently asking why. The girl huffed, still not looking at you. "I still want to sleep..." she muttered, her small frown turning into a sad face. "Me too," You say, feeling sleepy as well. The first days of the school year were the worst. You see, Cassie's eyes droop, struggling to stay open. You sigh, picking her up, "Come on, we still have to go." You say, carrying the girl out of the apartment complex as she weakly fights back, her arms waving around like spaghetti. You both exit the apartment complex, walking down the street to the bus stop. You could see Casey's silhouette through the window, practising his hockey skills. "He's such a dummy; he's going to be late for school," Cassie says sleepily, and you nod in agreement. "Are you excited for kindergarten?" You ask her, trying to strike up a conversation. She shook her head, grumbling into your shoulder. "Don't wanna go... Wanna stay home..." You hear her mumble, silently agreeing with her. The bus arrives and you both go in, paying your fare and finding a seat at the back. Cassie jumps out of your hands and immediately sits next to the window. She watches people and buildings go by, you did the same from your spot next to her.
After a few minutes, you arrive at Cassie's school, you lead Casey's sister out of the bus. Now you were face to face with Roosevelt Elementary School. The place was swarmed with parents and their kids. The younger kids were clinging onto their parents' legs and bawling their eyes out while the older kids just went in without looking back. "You ready, Cassie?" You asked her, noticing the frown on her face. "Don't want to go," she grumbled, her reluctance returning. "Don't worry, it'll be fine." You say reassuringly. She looks up at you, giving you a judgmental stare, "You don't look like you had friends in kindergarten," she said bluntly, not having any remorse. "Nuh uh, I had your brother as a friend," You said defensively. "He counts as a pet rock," She replied, rolling her eyes. 'Damn this kid had attitude, probably because of Casey' You thought. But before you could say anything more, a small, happy girl ran up to her. "Hiii! My name is Enaya!" The girl said happily to Cassie. Cassie just looked confused and asked, "Why did you come talk to me?" Enaya giggled and said cheerfully, "Because I heard what you said to your sister, it was hilarious." You raised an eyebrow, "I'm not her sister," you say, Cassie nodding in agreement. Enaya's eyes widened, and she immediately yelled, pointing at you, "DID YOU KIDNAP HER???" Everyone around you stared right at you as Enaya yelled that out, and Cassie wasn't helping by catching on to the joke and playing along. You glared at Cassie, silently asking her to clear up the misunderstanding, but she just gave you the most sinister grin you have ever seen. And with that, she just started to play along with Enaya said. "It's true! She kidnapped me!" She stuttered out, tears at the corners of her eyes. But of course, the 2 girls couldn't hold in their laughter and burst out laughing. You could hear the parents around you mumbling complaints and a few 'This generation is doomed.'
