THE FIRST DATE

CHAPTER 3

After thanking the guy I stood aside to wait for Advay. But surprisingly he said "You go ahead and get a drink for both of us. I won't take much time". I was suspicious but I did as he said.

Advay came after 15 minutes. I was waiting at the shop near parking with two sprites. I gave him his drink. "What it is that you don't want me to see?"

"You'll know anyway" he just smiled. Huh?

"Thank you for taking me to the signing." I smiled at him. "When will you stop thanking me in everything"

When you become my boyfriend...

I just smiled and said nothing.

"Let's go" I said as we finished our drink. "You want to go home now?" he asked.

"Somewhere else you want to take me?" I questioned back. "Want to watch sunset with me?" he smiled. I stared at him for a moment then smiled and nodded.

And he took me to the beach.

"There aren't many people today" I said as I looked around. There were some food stalls and some small shop like stalls.

Advay walked ahead of me and lead us to an even quiet area. There are hardly 3 to 4 people here but it's quite nice. He walked ahead and sat on the sand and patted on the sand on his right asking me to sit beside him. I went ahead and sat beside him.

"It's beautiful here" I said. "How many times were you here before?" I asked as I looked at him. "It's my third time here" he said looking ahead and then turned to me "I wanted to bring you here when I came here for second time. I thought you would like the view."

I smiled I stared at him "I do like the view. Thank you"

After few seconds he cleared his throat and looked straight. "Let me bring some sweet corn for us" he said and got up. I nodded. I looked at him as his ears turned a little red.

Oh my! Is he blushing? I giggled.

I am going to add so many pink hearts to today's date in my diary today...

He came back in 10 minutes and sat down. We ate and watched sunset in silence. Though we aren't making any conversation, it's still comfortable. To be by his side and watch sunset, I never thought a moment like this will ever happen. I took out my phone and clicked a photo of the sunset. I am going to cherish this moment forever.

Click!

Huh? We looked behind. They're stood a couple looking at us as she gushed out "Oh my! You look so cute together" the girl said as she looked at us.

Huh?

"Oh! I am sorry. It's just you both look so good from here that I couldn't help myself and took a photo. I can delete it if you want. Are you on a date too?" she added with a guilty face as she looked at our confused faces.

"I-iit's ok! And no, we are not on a date. We are friends." I said as we both looked at each other and he frowned at that.

"Oh! I am sorry you-"

"Can you send that picture to me?" Advay interrupted the girl. She paused for a second, then smiled mysteriously. They left after sharing the picture.

Advay then looked at me and then frowned as he typed something on his phone. "What happened?" I asked. Then he showed me his phone.

He googled what is a date??

Huh? I raised my eyebrows asking what he mean. " It says 'A date is an appointment to meet someone or go out with them, especially someone with whom you are having, or may soon have, a romantic relationship' ".

What does he mean?

I continued looking at him. I don't know what to say. Should I ask if he want a 'romantic relationship ' with me?

Don't be cringy Nidhi!

Should I ask about his feelings? Or should I-

I was in middle of my thoughts when he interrupted me by giving me a paper bag " This is for you". Huh? Isn't this the book he bought?

I took the paper bag and pulled out the book. It's the book I recommended him when he asked about my favourite book ' Till the Last Breath'. I looked at him confused. "Open it" he said. I opened the book. There was a note on first page

'I really wasn't into this book thing or what the poets write neither those romantic songs but the first time I saw you I could understand those poets who write poems on moon. As I spend more and more time with you every romantic song clicks. When I saw you talking animatedly about all the books you read, I was curious. So, I asked you for a recommendation. And when I finished this book, all I could think was, how I would drown in the darkness, in the abyss of sadness if you ever leave me alone in this world.

A feeling so strong can exist amaze me! It made me realize how important you have become in 3 years. So, what I want to say is if you hold my hand now there is no going back.

I can feel my eyes tearing up as flipped to the next page.

I looked at him as he forwards his hands towards me and I happily placed my hands on his. He tightened his hold on my hand and held my other hand in his and looked at me in the eyes.

"I always had a plan. Before completing my school, I had planned it all. Which college to go, what subjects to choose, what and where the part time job to do, how many days for vacation, how much days of studying, where I want to work in future and many more. But falling in love? Nope! And then I met you. You, Nidhi, are best unplanned thing that ever happened to me! And I am glad I met you"

I really can't hold my tears anymore! My vision blurred. More and more tears gushed out.

"I am glad we met too! I am glad to feel how it's like falling in love and I am glad it's you!" I said I looked at him from my blurry vision. He wiped my tears and smiled helplessly " I don't say all that for you to cry". "I don't know why I am crying ok!" I said.

We sat down on the sand beside each other. Him never leaving my hand even for a second after that. It's not like I want to leave his hands too. It took me some time to calm down.

"So, you liked the book?" I asked looking at him.

"Yes, I do! Both the book and the one who recommended it" he said and smiled. I grinned at him. " Mee too! I also like the only person I recommended this book to". The gentleness in his eyes is going to kill me. Really!

"It's getting late. I have to go home." I said dejectedly. I really don't want to go though. "It's okay! We'll meet tomorrow at college" he said. He smiled and kissed my hand he was holding "Come on I'll drop you home!"

By the time he dropped me home it was nearing 7 PM. I directly went into my room and dropped myself on the bed thinking about all the things happened today.

Ding!

I looked at my phone.

Shruti: So, how was it?

Ded dead Shruti ded dead!

Me: The perfect first date everrrrr!!!!
