Jordan's pov:

Sighing, I finally answer my phone as the name 'Sheriff Stilinski' pops up for the millionth time. Willow has been with the doctor for about half an hour now so she should be coming back any minute now. I can already tell he's going to be in a mood; I haven't told him anything about my whereabouts.

"Hello?" I ask, leaning back in the chair beside Wills' bed. The other side of the phone is quiet for a couple of seconds, the only thing heard is paper being scuffled around.

"Where the hell are you, Parrish? Your shift started hours ago, you know how understaffed we are anyway!" The sheriff's voice grumbles through like an old tram, "I could fire you right now. You know that don't you?!"

"Yes, but you wouldn't. As you said before, we're understaffed." I say, as I look up Willow re-enters the room. Her face is stained with fresh tears and her eyes bloodshot red. I wave my hand at her, beckoning her over to me , she shuffles across the floor and almost collapses on my lap. I wrap my free arm around her waist whilst she leans into my chest.

"I'm glad you know that. Now get your ass into the station. That is an order, Deputy!"

"I can't today, Stilinski. I'm sorry but my... erm my mother's ill." I stutter trying to form a lie. "I'm going to be at the hospital with her for a couple of days."

A loud huff is head on the other line, then quickly followed up by a quick, "Fine, but tell me in advance next time. I'll get Dudley to fill in for you."

"Thank you, Sheriff." I thank him briefly, my hand caressing his adopted daughters lower back nonchalantly.

"Any time, Parrish." He grumbles before hanging up.

Bum, bum, bum...

Willows heartbeat is speeding up, she's zoned off as her eyes bleakly wander off into the distance and don't come back. Puddles of water crowd in her eyes as they become even glossier than before. I already know what's happening. Her breathing starts to pick up, her small pants for air make my ears twitch.

My voice is calm, as I continue to slowly stroke her back, "Hey, baby. Can you come back to me? You're having another episode, breathe in and out with me." Avoiding any sudden movements, I try to slow her breathing down, "Deep breaths, in and out... in and out... that's it, slow your breathing down."

She's listening now, whatever universe she was in before, her senses are slowly coming back to reality. Her hand grips tightly onto mine and I move my other hand to cup her head whilst she cries. My hand is white from the sheer amount of pressure she's using, but I don't mind because I love her.

"Let it out, let it all out. You're safe here, with me. We are safe here." I tell her as she hold onto me for dear life. In the corner of my eyes, I see Melissa leaning against the door frame. She's smiling proudly at me, I have no idea if she knows about my previous time in the military but she knows I'm doing right for Willow right now.
