YUTA couldn't tear his eyes away from his computer screen, the bright screen's light shining through the dark shadows of his room and onto his pale skin while he stared at it in a sense of shock.
The words "YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED TO JUJUSTU UNIVERSITY" were in dark bold letters that were hard to ignore. He had applied to this school a bit late in the year, and he was certain that he'd have to apply to his backup college soon because of this and his GPA, but he was proven wrong. Did he really have the motivation to start a new life?
One without her?
He really didn't have a choice now, since he had already been accepted to the school. Yuta closed the laptop slowly and took a moment to think, his gaze subconsciously going towards the picture of his past lover that was framed and sat on his nightstand. Her eyes shown brightly with happiness, her signature black dress making her eyes pop and making her skin look like it was glowing. She was holding onto the tiny engagement ring, the matching ring to the one on Yuta's left ring finger.
A sigh of frustration fell from Yuta's lips, a slight sting coming to his eyes as fresh tears began to well up along his bottom lash line. He pushed his computer to the edge of his bed and pulled the blanket over him before turning onto his side, curling up into a fetal position and beginning to sob quietly. His chest heaved and tightened, his hand coming above his heart to his shirt and clutching it tightly in his grasp.
"What's wrong with me?" He sniffled, tears streaming down his face and staining his cheeks. Yuta couldn't help but feel frustrated with himself at how pathetic he was acting. It had been years since RIKA'S death, but he still hadn't gotten over it. How could he have? She was his soulmate and first love after all.

"You're an idiot, you know that?" MAKI'S annoyed voice sounded from Y/N'S phone speaker. She had told Maki about how she had gained a new crush on one of the random guys in her class. Y/N frowned to herself when she had heard that, a soft huff coming from her lips.
"You're so mean..." she pouted, lying back onto the bed with her phone at her side. This always happened, and it always ended the same. Y/N would gain feelings for someone she didn't even know, call Maki and gush over him, then she'd find a new crush and "fall in love" with them. It was like a never ending cycle to Maki, and she just wanted it to end.
"I'm not being mean, I'm being realistic. You don't even know this guy, Y/N," she sighed as she brushed her hair, getting ready for bed. "Why not just wait 'till you meet your soulmate, and then fall in love with them?"
"Like that'll ever happen," Y/N scoffed in response to Maki's words, a hint of annoyance in her voice as she played with the ends of her hair. She may have been a hopeless romantic, but she was skeptical about the whole "soulmate" thing. Her gaze traveled to her left wrist where her soulmate's last name and age was tattooed on the skin.
𝐎𝐤𝐤𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐮, 𝟏𝟗.
The letters were a bit darker than her regular skin tone, and there were rumors that once someone had met the person they were destined to be with, the letters would turn jet black and wouldn't disappear until both sides were interested in each other romantically.
Y/N had always felt like she would never meet her soulmate. There are so many people in the world, so meeting your soulmate isn't guaranteed. Though, she did secretly long for it. Would she ever admit that? Of course not.
"Listen I have to go. I'm getting tired. Night, Ki," she hummed softly, hearing her best friend tell her goodnight as well before they both hung up. Y/N pulled the covers over her figure and turned over, her head resting on the pillow as she thought to herself for a moment.
"Wish I could meet my soulmate," Was the only thought that rung in her mind while her eyelids began to get heavy, her breathing slowing as she fell asleep.

Yuta felt a sharp pain splitting headache form almost instantly when he had woken up, a tired groan coming from his throat. He didn't remember falling asleep, but he was definitely exhausted from crying all night. He sat up in bed and rubbed the sleep away from his eyes, uncovering himself and going to take a shower.

He was sat on the ground of the shower as the water began to get cold, the water rushing against his skin which caused the tone to turn a light red. His unfazed gaze remained on the ground as he zoned out, thinking about what he was going to do the week before he had to attend JuJustu University, wondering if he even had enough money to buy a school bag and such.
Yuta couldn't help but be worried about how he would even talk to people. He had isolated himself accidentally when Rika had passed away, thinking he didn't want to be hurt again. The boy constantly worried about what he would do if someone else he loved died or hurt him.
His bottom lip quivered and his teeth chattered in response to the cold water getting too much for him and his body, his hand shakily reaching for the shower faucet and turning off the water. He had finally made up his mind about what he was going to do and he hoped that this tiny plan he had started to put in motion would work.
He got out of the shower to get dressed and walked into the kitchen, grabbing the bread from the pantry and the strawberry jelly from the fridge, toasting the bread first. Yuta didn't feel the need to eat, but he had to. He couldn't take his antidepressants on an empty stomach, so he decided to make a small snack.
"Strawberry jelly was her favorite,"
The small thought came to his mind and he immediately felt his heart sink into his stomach. He wanted to slap himself for even thinking that, he didn't want to think about her anymore. Yet, his every waking thought was about Rika, and he never wanted to forget her. But all good things come to an end eventually. Yuta knew that all too well.
