Paris, May 1942
May 5th – Battle of Madagascar begins, Allied campaign to capture Vichy French-controlled Madagascar during World War II.

⚠️ NOTE: THIS IS ALL FICTIONAL! THE BATTLE OF MADAGASCAR DID INFACT TAKE PLACE - HOWEVER THIS IS A RETOLD VERSION TWISTED TO FIT MY STORY, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH ⚠️

The seizure of the island by the British was to deny Madagascar's ports to the Imperial Japanese Navy and to prevent the loss or impairment of the Allied shipping routes to India, Australia and Southeast Asia. It began with Operation Ironclad, the seizure of the port of Diego-Suarez (now Antsiranana) near the northern tip of the island.

This was not to be sought as a get away from the troubles resuming in wider Europe, Generals, Lieutenant and Soldiers alike had been sweating bullets since the meeting almost a month ago, and Louis Müller was no exception.

Head of The Police Municipale, As well as being head General of the French army in Group 55, Raphaël Connway went on the local radio, hundreds of residents tuned in expecting answers, all they really ended up getting was a load of nationalism. Raphaël spoke with a raspy accent, one laced with sultry demand that got you hooked onto whatever he had to say. The type that made your head turn, your neck snap back and your feet stop, you know?

He went on about French spirit and shouting "If Britain can do it, we can put up just as much as a fight." (Referring to the bombings two years back), this was a car stretch from what some would call "motivation", but it got soldier's pumping with hope.

Perhaps he was onto something?

After an encouraging speech by none other than the general himself, the troops were ordered into single file lines outside the army barracks. Covered head to toe in about 60 lbs of gear, hands permanently struck into a saluting positing, game faces on, this was going to be a challenge.

One by one soldiers were taken off the coast of an undisclosed beach and taken on board 750 ships. Enough to fit 200 people each at best, Müller was the first shaky foot on board, followed by another, and another, till it was filled to the brim and he was squeezed between an army officer in training and one of his best friends, Phillipp Brauer.

This was going to be a long journey..
