Months passed since the Duelist Kingdom tournament. Yugi Muto had defeated Pegasus in a final duel and saved both his grandpa, Seto, and Mokuba Kaiba's souls; though she had never heard of those names before. And she had witnessed the duel, so she had proof. Joey Wheeler had gained the $3 million prize and was using it to afford his sister's eye surgery. As for [Name] she still felt an aching sadness for her friend's early departure. The phone rang. [Name]'s mother walked to answer it, hearing a voice on the other end. "Oh– one second... [Name]! Someone wishes to speak to you!" she called.
[Name] was quick to run down the stairs and grasp the phone. What if it was her friend Yugi? What if he found Mako and was going to tell her where he was?? But the voice on the other end erased all her hopes. "Hello, [Name] [Last name]. My name is Seto Kaiba. But I'm sure you've heard of me. Pegasus told me that you were a talented writer of some sort. And so I've called to ask you something. What if you wrote for my corporation?"
"You want me to write about KaibaCorp? Without properly paying me?! And after I told myself that I wouldn't be writing for snotty rich folk?! Hell no!" [Name] shouted.
Her mother couldn't believe what she was hearing. She continued to listen to her daughter speak with Kaiba, his voice somewhat audible from where she stood. "And, if you write about KaibaCorp, then I'll let you write about Battle City as well."
"What in the... What's Battle City?"
"It'll take place at the center of Domino City. Now, I highly doubt you know about the 3 Egyptian God Cards; Slifer the Sky Dragon, the Winged Dragon of Ra, and Obelisk the Tormentor. I intend to find who has the two other cards, all while defeating Yugi Muto in the process. And I need you to record everything that happens. Every duel; minor or major," Kaiba explained.
"But, [Name]. How can you be in so many different places at once?" her mother asked.
"That's what I want to know," [Name] responded.
Kaiba chuckled and explained that he would have cameras filming all of the duels, and from the cameras, she would write down what happened. But her first task was to write about the history of KaibaCorp. "First and foremost, you need to promise me that you'll pay me when I'm done writing for your stupid game business. Got it?" [Name] scolded.
"Fine, fine. I'll pay you 1 million. How about it?" Kaiba asked.
There was a steady silence in the house. Reluctantly, [Name] nodded, telling him to not forget. In case he did, she took a scrap piece of paper and wrote down; "Kaiba owes me 1 million after Battle City. better keep his end >:(" She slipped it into her pocket and kept listening. Now, put your mother on the phone. I'll talk with her about something else," Kaiba said.
[Name] nodded and gave the phone to her mom. She then went upstairs to continue doing what she was doing before; writing in her notebook. She was jotting ideas for a new story; one about a fisherman and a young woman who had nothing to offer. The ruler of the country the two characters lived in would ask people to give him everything they had each month. And the woman never had anything. Therefore, she was usually shamed and frowned upon by the people. But the fisherman saw something in the poor young lady; something others didn't see.
That's when her sister ran into her bedroom. "Sissy! I hear you're working for KaibaCorp! Aren't you still in school?" she asked.
"Does it look like I'm in school?? Yes!! And so are you! Did mom tell you??" [Name] exclaimed, throwing her notebook across the room.
Her sister nodded, an innocent smile on her face. She then rushed out as her brother slid a piece of paper into her bedroom before slipping away. [Name] arched an eyebrow before walking to the piece of paper, seeing that there was a date written on it.
