"Hello?" a voice calls out from the front of the vet's office. "Hi, how can I help?" you ask walking over to the counter and starting up your laptop. "It's not really for me, but since we don't have a shelter in the town I didn't know where else to go," the girl explains rubbing the back of her neck. "That's okay," you say waving a hand.

"Yeah, well anyways. When I was heading back to my family's farm I saw this black Tesla pull up and drop off a box before zooming away. When I looked in the box I found this little guy, and since I can't keep him I brought him here," she explains opening the lid of the box.

Inside of the box was a Cockatiel that was missing the feathers on its body and very few on the wings. It was missing the big feathers on the top of its head and the feathers that covered the face. There were still some feathers on the back of its head down to its tail feathers with a coupled sprinkled on its chest. The beak seemed to be fine. It had a small cut above its right eye. The legs were badly burnt, probably going to have to make prosthetic legs.

After a quick thank you to the girl, you take the box to the back. Grabbing some bird food you place some in the bowl being careful to water it down a bit so it could eat it better. Once the food was gone you start to do a quick evaluation on finding out that he was a boy and that the feathers were not going to grow back.

"Alright little guy since there are no other birds or patients, you'll be staying with me for the next couple of days until we can find you a new home," you say patting his head. Grabbing a spare cage you gently placed him in and brought him home at the end of the day.

Oh boy, it was loud when you brought his cage into the pet room. The moment he made eye contact with Blitzø he was screeching and Blitzø started to hiss. Not wanting to deal with the loud noises you brought the bird back to your room.

Trying to find anything on who would leave the bird by themselves you spend most of the night staying up and scrolling on the internet. Octavia was nice enough to keep you company for the night while you played some lo-fi songs.

Around 1 o'clock you were able to find something on your Fyp by the same famous guy you followed. Clicking on the more recent photos shows him driving in a car that was too dark to identify while he made a sad face. The caption read "Lost my star performer! If you see a small featherless cockatiel please reach out".

Snapping a quick pick of the bird you send a quick DM to the guy saying that a local found his bird, and that you were ready to give him back whenever.

Phone:

You: Hi! I'm a local vet in a small town and I recently had someone bring in a bird that looks exactly like yours's. Here's a pic

You: [Insert Pic]

Guy: That's him alright. You found him kind of fast

You: Yeah He was dropped off at the vet office

Guy: Right well, Ill pick him up when I can, I'm currently leaving for another country for awhile and I need you to hold on to him for me

You: Of course! I'd be glad to help

Guy: Good

You: When do you think you'll be back?

Typing...

Guy: Sometime

Guy: For now don't post about it till I get him. Don't want others trying to steal him

You: Of course. I'll watch over him.

Guy: Thanks

Setting your phone down, you turn to look at the bird in the cage. "Well buddy until your owner gets back you'll be staying with us," you say gently stretching his head.
