(I would like to apologize, this ended up being a lot more depressing than I initially intended :sob: originally I was going to go for a happy ending buttttt...)

“Come on Doc! I get it, but we gotta go!” Whined (Y/N) as he pulled on 049’s sleeve. He had gotten a fresh pair of gloves from 049 so that he would be able to hold onto 049 more efficiently if he ran off to try and cure someone again.

049 let out a frustrated sigh and took a needle and thread out of his pack. “Dear, you can't rush perfection! I'm nearly finished curing him. Just let me sew him up and we can be on our merry way.”

(Y/N) sighed and shook his head. “Alright. Fine. But we really have to be quick, I want to get to Sirona. This place is dangerous..” he smiled softly as he watched 049 finish up on the corpse. He had to admit, he had grown slightly attached to the doctor. He was an interesting fella, not someone you met every day. That was for sure.

He leaned against the wall as 049 finished up. He eventually leaned away from the body and let out a small, sad sigh.

“Everything good, doc?” Asked (Y/N), walking up behind the doctor and looking over his shoulder at the body.

“The cure failed. I was unable to cure him” he said. “It's painful when I am unable to help someone who was cursed with this wicked sickness. Alas, not everyone can be cured. We may continue forward to find this.. Sirona.”

(Y/N) sighed and paused before putting his hand on 049’s shoulder. “You tried. That's what matters. Now let's go.” He let out a sigh and walked to the doors exit. He slid through and walked forward a bit. He paused and let 049 take the lead. “are we close?”

“Yes.” He hummed. “The stairs are near. Ah, Dr. (Y/N), I have a question.” He adjusted his bag and slowed his pace so that he could walk by (Y/N).

“Lay it on me.” (Y/N) tilted his head to look (up/down) at 049.

“Do you truly intend to lend me your keycard? You must understand that all you have done is plenty enough to get you terminated.” His eyes had a slight glint in them. 049 was hoping that (Y/N) would help him- maybe even join him in the run. Go around the world, perhaps make their way back to France. Cure the pestilence together. It was a thought the doctor liked.

“I-” (Y/N) sighed. “I don't really know. I fully didn't intend to at first, but now I really do want to help. It's just-” he shook his head. “I'm going to lose my job, aren't I? They are going to terminate me.. or worse.”

(Y/N) flinched as 049 suddenly took (Y/N)’s gloved hands in his. “They will likely demote you to a D-Class. This, dear Doctor, is why you need to join me. I can save you. We may travel the world and rid it of the pestilence. My deal leaves you with only advantages.”

(Y/N) didn't know what to do. On one hand, they didn't want to become a D- Class. On the other hand, would joining 049 really be a good idea? It was definitely an option. Gods, he couldn't believe he was actually thinking of this as an option.. Joining a SCP on the run? What else could he do though?”

“ Well.. I ah.. listen, I don't know. It's crazy that I'm even thinking about doing it. But, maybe. That's all I can say for now.”

049 slowly pulled away. “Very well, doctor. I hope you intend to make your choice soon, as we don't have much longer alone.”

He continued forward, seemingly slightly dejected by (Y/N)’s refusal. The next few moments we're in silence. Neither one of them speaking. It was obvious that 049 desired (Y/N) to be by his side. But.. Why? Was it truly just because (Y/N) reminded him of a former lover? He wasn't against the idea of joining the doctor- purely platonically, of course, but he didn't want to join his side just to replace the hole in the doctor’s heart.
