Yohan's POV

I was increasingly frustrated with Lovely’s wickedness. Her name was a stark contrast to her true character. Earlier, I had followed Ms. Cruz to the faculty room, where she informed me that I could take the exam, but with a condition—I'd have to clean her desk first. I reluctantly agreed and spent the last hour cleaning, utterly exhausted.

As I exited the faculty room, I spotted Lovely waiting for me. "I'm exhausted," I grumbled.

"I have something for you to do," she replied, fixing her gaze on me.

"I'm tired, so you can do it yourself," I shot back, trying to walk past her. But she quickly stepped in my way, blocking my path.

"I don’t care. Just do what I say! If not—" she leaned in and whispered something.

"What?" I yelled in irritation. This girl was relentless.

"I’ll throw away your necklace!" she threatened, holding my beloved chain hostage.

I was taken aback by her words. Slowly, I approached her, but she darted away, clutching the necklace tightly.

"Lovely! Where are you going?" I shouted.

"I'm tossing your necklace!" she called back, and I found myself sprinting after her, out of the school gate. She ran fast—almost like she wasn't even a girl.

I chased her until we reached the street corner, where she held my necklace just out of reach.

"What are you planning to do?" I demanded, watching her smile mischievously. Did she have nothing better to do than torment me?

"I simply asked you to do something, and you refused. Who's really at fault here?" Her words dripped with disdain, and I could feel my frustration boiling over.

"You're so meddlesome! First with the girls, and now with the teachers. What do you care if I tease them?" I shot back.

"It's infuriating because among all the guys on campus, you're the only one who bothers me!" she screamed.

"You're acting so immature!" I retorted. At her age, she should have outgrown this bullying phase.

"I know! And why should you care? I’m not bothering you!" she shouted defiantly. "Besides, this is my life. I don’t get in trouble with the principal because I have connections, so I just use that!"

"You've lost it!" I yelled.

"Yeah, I’ve lost it, which is why I’m going to throw this!" She flung my necklace into the street. Panic surged through me as I rushed forward, ignoring the oncoming cars.

I ran to retrieve it, but as I picked it up, I noticed a car speeding toward me.

Lovely's POV

I gasped as Yohan dashed into the street after the necklace I had tossed. He was oblivious to the approaching vehicle, his focus solely on my chain.

When he finally grasped it, I was horrified to see a car barreling toward him.

"Yohan!" I screamed, running towards him. He was still dazed, holding the necklace tightly.

I reached him just as the driver emerged from her car. "Yohan, wake up!"

"We need to take him to the hospital!" the driver said, and I nodded numbly, tears welling in my eyes. I felt helpless as I assisted the driver in getting him into the car, my heart pounding with fear.

"What was he doing in the middle of the road?" the driver asked, looking at me.

"I... I don’t know," I managed to stammer. Guilt washed over me. This was my fault.

The driver sped off, and we called Yohan's father. Upon our arrival at the hospital, I was horrified to see Yohan’s parents arguing frantically, their voices echoing in the tense atmosphere.

"You've crashed your own son!" Yohan’s father bellowed at the driver.

"I didn’t know! I didn’t see him!" the driver cried, revealing herself as Yohan’s mother.

"You didn’t know because you never cared! You abandoned us, and now you show up? What the hell, Yolly!" he shouted, his voice thick with anger. "If anything happens to my son, I will never forgive you!"

I stood frozen, heart racing, feeling the weight of my responsibility.

"Excuse me," I said quietly, drawing their attention. "I'm so sorry." My tears flowed freely. "It’s my fault."

"You’re not to blame," the driver said softly, placing her hand on mine. I shook my head vehemently.

"It is my fault," I sobbed. I held out Yohan’s necklace. "I threw it into the street, and I didn’t know he would chase after it."

I broke down, realizing how reckless I had been. "I can’t believe I acted this way."

Before I knew it, she had enveloped me in a comforting embrace. "It’s not your fault," she repeated softly.

"Yes, it is," I cried into her shoulder.

After what felt like an eternity, the doctor emerged from the operating room. "The patient is stable," he announced, bringing a wave of relief.

"Thank goodness you brought him in time," he continued. "He lost very little blood, and he’ll be fine."

I exhaled deeply, feeling a mixture of relief and guilt. He was safe, but I was terrified of what could have happened.

Yohan’s parents stepped aside to discuss things, leaving me alone in the hospital room. I had informed my parents that I wouldn’t be going home.

I fell asleep on the couch, waking up to an uncomfortable stiffness in my body. As I stepped out of the room, I spotted Yohan’s parents preparing to leave.

"I’m leaving," I said quietly. "Please give Yohan his necklace and tell him I’m sorry."

"Are you not going to wait for him to wake up?" his father asked.

"I can’t," I replied, my heart heavy as I walked out of the hospital.

What a surreal experience! I felt detached, like I had almost killed someone. Was this a sign that I needed to change?

But it was partly his fault! No, Lovely, stop it. I shouldn’t blame him. Yes, I was the one who tossed the necklace, but I didn’t know he would run after it.

I just wanted to forget about all this!

"Lovely!" I turned at the sound of my name. Yohan was in a wheelchair, grinning at me. He was awake!

I suddenly realized the consequences of my actions. Yes, it’s fun to play with things, but have I ever considered how it would feel for them? I needed to learn to accept forgiveness and love others.
