Chapter 47 - The Enthusiastic Bors!
'Bang—'
With the last monster falling to the ground, Ethan let out a long sigh of relief.
Beneath the fatigue, the excitement in his heart gradually faded away, yet Ethan was very fond of the Ratio Technique, a cursed technique, finding it extremely useful.
In "Jujutsu Kaisen," with just a blunt sword, Nanami Kento was invincible.
Now, in Ethan's hands, all monsters he encountered today could not withstand a single strike from him.
Under the effect of the Ratio Technique, they were all cut down.
Collecting all the magic stones, he absorbed the magic energy within them.
After all, increasing his magic reserve was never a bad idea.
The 17th floor, not long ago, he nearly perished here, but now he is back, stronger than before.
This time, he won't be as miserable as before.
'Tap—tap—tap—'
Under the light refracted from the crystal walls, this floor looked drastically different from the previous ones; it was very bright.
Unlike last time, Ethan easily passed through the passageway without encountering any accidents or monsters.
The 18th floor is the first safe zone of the dungeon.
Here, monsters rarely appear, and with scenes of mountains and rivers, it's much safer compared to other floors where monsters can spawn at any time.
Therefore, many adventurers choose to rest here, since it's relatively safe.
Over time, people discovered that there was a huge 'business opportunity' here, and a small town called 'Rivira' emerged on the 18th floor.
Rivira is a 'dungeon town' built by adventurers where they can rest and trade.
However, prices here are much higher than above ground, especially for adventurer-related items, which are several times more expensive; but due to the difficulty of ensuring a stable supply in the dungeon, they can still sell at sky-high prices.
Although the 18th floor is a safe zone, it's not completely secure.
Monsters can occasionally attack and destroy buildings.
Because of this, Rivira town has been rebuilt many times.
[Rivira Town: The 331st Generation]
Arriving at this 'dungeon town', a sign at the entrance displayed these words.
The 331st generation, meaning this town had been rebuilt 330 times.
Ethan couldn't help but look inside, where the majority of houses, over eighty percent, were made of wooden structures, likely sourced locally from nearby forest.
Apart from wood being easy to obtain, there's no need for overly sturdy buildings since the town might be destroyed again; simple shelters that provide basic living conditions are sufficient.
Inside the town, there were many stalls, and Ethan glanced at a few.
Most were selling weapons and equipment at exorbitant prices, several times higher than in Orario.
This made Ethan's heart itch; with his 'Imaginary Space', he could easily bring a large amount of items here, where a weapon worth 1000 valis could sell for over 5000 valis, or maybe even more.
But the thought of endless hours spent hawking his goods made him hesitate.
"Is this your first time in Rivira, my friend?"
"Hmm?"
A man's voice came from behind, and Ethan turned around to look back.
The man had a burly figure with a broad build, one eye covered with a black eyepatch, wearing a sleeveless shirt, his face 'smiling' at Ethan. He resembled a pirate.
However, from the man's smile, Ethan sensed greed; he probably saw Ethan as an easy target.
"I'm Bors Elder, the boss of this town. And you are?" The man named Bors asked.
"Ethan Starfall, an adventurer~" Ethan replied without much interest.
Hearing Ethan's response, Bors was slightly taken aback.
Aside from his name, the boy really didn't say much.
But that's normal. Out here, especially in this lawless dungeon, most adventurers are wary of strangers.
"Ethan, right? I guess it's your first time here in Rivira?" Bors tried to get more information.
"This is my first time here." Ethan didn't lie.
"I, Bors Elder, love making new friends. It must be fate that we crossed paths today. Tell you what, let me get you a drink.." Bors said enthusiastically.
"A drink?" Ethan was surprised.
"Yes, even though this is the dungeon, alcohol is indispensable for most adventurers, right?" Bors genuinely believed so.
"It won't be cheap, right?"
Ethan looked at Bors, eyes wide.
The prices here weren't just sky-high; they were astronomical. This town was indeed a scam city.
Hearing Ethan's comment, Bors wasn't surprised; after all, Rivira's pricing was well known in Orario.
"Look, meeting is fate. Today's drink is on me." Bors didn't mind the price.
"Really?" Ethan asked again.
"Lie? Me? Never! Go on, ask anyone in Rivira – they'll all tell you Bors is the most honest man you'll ever meet. I never lie." Bors declared, puffing out his chest.
Ethan internally scoffed at Bors's words. As the head of Rivira's gang of scammers, this guy never lies?
Then what about all those unlucky adventurers who got scammed over the years?
But Ethan didn't confront him and followed Bors through the street to a tavern.
'Bang—'
"Boss, bring out the drinks, I've made a new friend today, and we need to celebrate properly."
As they entered, Bors called out, and many in the tavern, who all knew Bors, turned to look at Ethan in interest.
Seeing Ethan's slender physique, they were curious about what made Bors pay such attention to the boy, as Bors was known for being profit-oriented.
'Bang—'
Bors led Ethan to an empty spot and sat down boldly as if he owned the place.
Soon, two large cups of drinks were served, and Ethan saw it was rum, a drink he often enjoyed with the dwarf boss back in Orario.
"Come on, brother, don't be shy."
Seeing the drinks served, Bors picked up his cup.
"Alright~"
Though unsure of Bors's intentions, Ethan wasn't one to refuse free drinks.
Since he was immune to almost all 'negative effects', he wasn't worried even if something was added to the drink.
Besides, with his Reverse Cursed Technique, he could easily protect himself unless his head was chopped off.
The others around watched this 'enthusiastic' Bors with puzzlement, wondering if the sun had risen from the west today.
At the table, Bors downed a large cup of rum in one go, showcasing his openness.
