“I decided not to hate, because I was the one who choose to love...”
There was this girl named Sky. Her mother died when she was born and she eventually fell to her father's custody, but a few months later her father decided to remarry another woman, thinking that this woman will fulfill all the love that his child needed.
Later on, Sky’s stepmother gave birth to a girl and she was named Rica. Growing up, the two sisters were raised unfairly. It was obvious that Sky’s stepmother was biased towards Rica and treated Sky as an outsider, but the worst part was that she physically and emotionally abused the poor girl. Sky grew up as a strong woman. She doesn't mind the abuse she gets from her family and she always finds a way to motivate herself to face the challenges in her life, but there's this time that she almost gives up.
This is the worst but somehow the most memorable day in her life.
Her father died.
She lost the first and only person who loved her, but suddenly met the second one on the same day.
She met Dawn.
Dawn is a very approachable person and she always makes other people smile, and Sky is one of those people Dawn makes happy. Sky never felt alone after she met Dawn. She and her become each other's everything, they become best friends. After that Sky’s life becomes less miserable despite the continuous abuse she gets from home, but one day… Sky received a sudden phone call from her sister Rica. Her younger sister is crying, and there Sky found that after her father died, her stepmother slowly became mentally unstable and later on lost her mind. Rica is now scared of her mother as she becomes aggressive and uncontrollable. Hearing the fear from her sister, Sky immediately went home.
Now, the crazy woman is pointing a gun at her daughter when Sky arrives together with her best friend, Dawn. Seeing her sister’s state, without even thinking, Sky immediately ran to attack her stepmother and save her sister, but at that moment she didn't realize that she just fell into a more serious situation. Her stepmother is now holding two guns, one each of her hands. One pointing to Rica and the other one is pointing to Dawn who is on the other side of the room. Sky knew that her stepmother has no control over herself anymore, so, talking has no use now, and that's when she immediately ran to kick one of her stepmother’s hand, to save the person who was about to get shot. She was startled by the loud sound that the bullet created, but she immediately got back to her senses and quickly pinned her stepmother to the floor, and then the old suddenly fell asleep because of the infact.
A while later, with tears in her eyes, Sky slowly looked at the person who was now lying on the floor, covered by her own blood.
It was Dawn, her best friend. She got shot directly to her crest where her heart is placed and she is not responding anymore. She's dead.
Sky chooses to save the person who never shows love to her, but she is now looking at the only person who does.
“Dawn is the only person who loves you, Sky… Why did you save me instead of her?” Rica asked weakly to Sky while looking at Dawn's dead body In front of them.
“You're my family, I love you and I will always choose you first.” Sky answered without looking at her sister.
“But why?! After all I’ve done to you? I'm still your family and y-you loved me? This is wrong! You should hate me!” Rica shouted. Sky looked at her without emotion visible on her face.
“Love is a choice and hating is a decision. I decided NOT to hate, because I was the one who chose to love.” Sky directly answered, making Rica gaps. She remained silent as she was still processing her sister’s words to her. A while ago, Rica shook her head in disbelief. She can't accept this. She was always unfair and cruel to her sister, Sky, and she hated her to the point that she even wished for her to disappear, but now Rica got slapped by the truth that despite everything she's done to Sky, she was still a sister to Sky’s heart and mind.
“I-i’m s-sorry…” Rica muttered.
“Really? How sorry you are, sis?” Sky asked.
“I can do everything just to make up for you.” A small bitter smile forms in Sky’s lips as Rica says this. She looked directly into her sister’s eyes.
“Perfect! Then don't waste time, you can do it now, do me a favor my little sister… Give me that gun and let me fix this.” Sky said looking at the guns Rica picked after it fell to the floor right after Sky attacked her mother. Rica immediately understands what her sister wants to do.
“W-why, sister?” Rica asked, making Sky laugh painfully.
“My sister, love will be forever, but loyalty should be eternity… I may have loved you, but please remember that my loyalty will always be for the only person who does love me, and that is my best friend.” Sky said.
Rica begged her sister not to do it, but Sky just looked at her directly into her eyes making her see her pain through her eyes, and at an instant, Rica felt quilted. She knows that most of that pain in Sky’s eyes was because of her, since then, till now it was her.
Rica looked up as she handed the gun to Sky. Rica knows that it's wrong, but seeing her sister in pain, she can't say no.
A while later, a loud sound breaks the deafening silence of the room. Rica fell to her knees as her tears continued to fall down her face. She looked at her sister's dead body beside her best friend, Dawn.
A minute ago, a group of policemen breaks into the house, and at the same time, Rica falls to the floor. Her whole surroundings went all black.
The End.
