TW:BULLYING
Next morning, halfway through Math class, Alyah was bored out of her mind. She was fidgeting with her pencil, and looking out the window, still thinking about her dad.
The teacher was talking about something out of her concern, and she lifted her hand to ask for the bathroom.
The teacher called on her and she gave him a smile.
"May I use the bathroom?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"Thank you."
She got up and walked out of the classroom, taking her phone out of her pocket.
She hadn't touched it since last night, so she had missed a whole bunch of texts and notifications from social media. She scrunched her eyebrows together, opening the first text, from Amelia.
'Did you see the pictures Justin posted?''Alyah.''Check his picture yet?'
Alyah rolled her eyes, but shifted over to Instagram to check Justin's post. Her pace slowed as she came to a halt, squinting at the picture on her screen.
A picture of a curled up Simon in the dumpster, covered in trash.
She covered her mouth, shocked. Yeah, she made fun of the guy, but this was too much. Justin stepped out of line.
She sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as she put her phone back in her pocket.
Now that she thought about that, Simon hadn't come to school today. Was it because of the pictures? She was the one who sent him to the dumpster for the stupid notebook. She had it, it was just sitting on her bedside table, and she sent him to the dumpster like an asshole.
She felt a little troubled with herself, and ashamed and guilty.
She had sent him to be bullied. Out of line bullying.
She walked the rest of the way to the bathroom, sitting on the toilet as she clung to her hair.
Now she was worried. What if he had gotten hurt because of her? What if Justin and the others did something to him?
She didn't understand why she felt guilty, it wasn't her fault. But she couldn't help and ask these questions in her mind.
"Stop worrying, he's fine..."
She whispered to herself, but she just kept thinking about the picture. It was so degrading and humiliating and he must've felt so stupid.
But she felt stupid.

Simon got up from bed after a restless night, and he completely ignored his alarm. Now he was scrambling to find his bookbag in the mess that was his room while he kept trying to call the school to warn about his tardiness.
He ran out the door and walked to school with a piece of toast in his mouth, trying to get to school before Math ended.
Once he actually got to school, everything was quiet except for the sound of a flush in the girls toilet.
Alyah came out, biting her nails and looking at her phone. Simon noticed her and stopped, his cheeks immediately flushing red when he saw her.
He fixed his hair and scrambled to clean his glasses as she walked slowly. She looked uneasy and he immediately remembered the night before.
"Shit..."
He whispered, and her head turned up in a jolt, looking around at the noise.
Her eyes widened and she stopped, walking to him in a quick pace as she stuffed her phone back in her pocket.
She stood in front of him, looking him up and down as he pulled his jacket over his shoulder, pushing his glasses up on his nose.
Simon was preparing for her to make fun of him, or laugh or anything of the kind but she just... stared.
"Are... Are you okay?"
Her voice was like a whisper, a light worry hint in her tone. He stopped, his heart skipping a beat as she said this.
"I-I... I-I'm fine..."
She gives another up and down look, her own heartbeat quickening. For some reason she felt worried about him, but she didn't see any visible injuries.
Little did she know he was hiding a bunch of bruises and the massive cut on his abdomen. He had it taken care of and was properly healed, so it wasn't something to care about.
"I-I saw the picture..."
He lowered his head, suddenly aware of her concern. A small smile appeared on his lips, but he hid it behind a deep breath.
"Of course you did, everyone did."
He blurts out, avoiding eye contact as he looked over her shoulder. She was wearing this black off the shoulder top with long silky sleeves and some flare jeans with sequins on the sides, making some patterns.
She looked amazing, and her worried face only made her cuter to him.
He adjusted his glasses again, finally looking down at her. He was quite tall, and his height towered over her easily.
Alyah looked down as he focused on her.
"Has anyone said... anything?"
"Maybe..."
"Of course..."
She looked around the halls, it was almost time to end second period and the halls would fill with students.
"I'm gonna go back to class."
She spat at him before turning around and walking back to class, leaving Simon in the hall.
He clung to his backpack strap and smiled, a smile so giddy and wide it almost hurt. He fidgeted with his hands as she walked away, watching her hips sway.
She covered her mouth as she walked back in the room, her cheeks flustered in a way she thought would never happen.

The rest of the day was all talking about Justin's post about the nerdy Simon, and Alyah could only hear and keep quiet, because it secretly made her want to punch someone for talking about a person like that.
In lunch, she was sitting with her usual group. The football team and a few of their girlfriend's, and of course, stuck like glue, Amelia.
They were all eating when Simon walked in the cafeteria, only to be immediately chased after with a tray of food.
Justin ran at him, spilling everything on his head. Alyah watched, shocked, as everyone laughed and filmed in their phones.
"Oh my god..."
Amelia laughed like crazy beside Alyah, with her phone lifted in the air as Simon shook the food off his clothes.
Everyone around her was laughing, and she just stared and watched, as Justin pushed him to the floor.
So there he sat, covered in mashed potatoes and some form of meat, chocolate milk and some slimy thing, all soaking into his clothes and hair.
The cafeteria wasn't even possible to walk through, with so many people crowding around Simon and Justin.
The football team was all calling Simon names, awful names. Meanwhile, Alyah got up, running and pushing past the crowd to get to him. Justin was standing over Simon, filming everything as people laughed at poor Simon.
Alyah felt so bad for him, this was too much. Yeah, she bullied him, but never this.
She walked to him and pushed Justin away, throwing his phone on the floor as he argued with her, calling her a slut and a nerd-lover.
Simon just stared up at her in awe as she argued with Justin.
"Get out of here you pig."
She told Justin, who very reluctantly walked away, but not before yelling something at her.
"Yeah, bite me you asshole."
She turned around to him, offering her hand to Simon, staring down at him.
"I-I..."
"Just take it."
He slowly moved his hand to hers, flinching out of her grip for a second. He accepted it and she held onto him tightly as he propped himself up on his feet.
He kept his eyes on her hand, wrapped around his, and he couldn't help the smile creeping up on his lips.
Alyah was the first to pull away, and she covered her mouth to breathe as she turned away, blushing a little.
He looked down at his hand for a moment, taking a deep breath before placing his hand on the back of his neck, embarrassed she saw him like this.
Covered in food and being mocked on by everyone.
"Go. Get out of here."
Alyah spat at him, and he stopped as he heard her voice. He obeyed, walking towards the door.
Shit.
