Dread. That was the feeling that was lingering in the pit of Danny's stomach as he made his way to the meeting point. His surroundings were not helping the feeling either. The skies were overcast, a bleak scent of rain in the air. The sun had already begun to rise above the horizon, forcing the trees to cast darkened shadows that seemed to reach out towards the lean boy as he made his way through the forest.

What was he doing? Why did he think this was a good idea? Was he really going to risk it all just to prove he was right? Yes, yes he was. Ignoring the way the branches reached toward him with deathly grip, he trudged on. Danny did not stop, not wanting to risk anymore than he already was. He knew he should have brought back-up. His girlfriend had a knack for fighting and his best friend, well he could have at least provided support. But the danger of this situation was what held him back from telling anyone where he was going. He dared not break the terms in fear of getting anyone he loved hurt, or worse.

Gripping the note he held in his hands, he stopped and stared at the old abandoned warehouse that stood on the edge of town. This was it. The moment that would determine his future. He prayed silently that he would make it through this. That everything would work out for him. That this danger would end with him. He had no idea what was about to happen, but he was determined to end it.

With one final prayer and a silent release of breath Danny didn't realize he was holding, he marched forward. The raven haired boy had already come this far, why would he turn back now? Because he was scared, that really wasn't an excuse, not to him at least. This was his fault, which meant it was his duty to protect the people of his city. But to do that meant to cut the head off of the snake. To destroy the problem at its roots. So, upon reaching the warehouse door, he entered without hesitation.

Inside the crumbling building, it was even bleaker on the inside than the out. Danny looked around for any condemning evidence, anything to stop the evident doom of his city and possibly the world. But there was nothing there. The building itself, besides for a couple of cobwebs, dust, and boxes, was completely bare of anything that would end this all. There was nothing. Standing in the middle of the floor, the closest thing that he could find that there was once anything there, were scratches on the floor where tables used to stand.

Danny felt defeated, what was he supposed to do now? A couple of scratches and dust bunnies were not enough to condemn any criminal, let alone getting anyone to believe him. Crushing the paper in his hands, Danny racked his brain for anything that he missed. What did he miss? He was so deep in thought that he had hardly noticed the door to the warehouse opening again. Turning around, he was met with a tall silhouette. Danny's stomach dropped. No one should know that he was here, no one.

The figure stepped forward and Danny took a step back. "I know who you are! I've already informed the authorities and they are on their way." Danny called trying to get a reaction out of the dark figure. But there was nothing, not even a single word from the figure. Stepping into the light, all of Danny's theories were confirmed. They smiled and a chill went down Danny's spine. He knew it. He knew it, and yet he was still surprised at the betrayal. The sting of the knife in his back was almost unbearable. He had so much respect for this person, and they lied to him about everything. Was anything true?

Danny had to take a moment. He only blinked for a second and when he looked again, they were gone. Where did they go? Looking around, Danny couldn't spot them. A cold chill sent a shiver down Danny's entire body, turning his enemy appeared before his icy blue eyes right behind him. Surprise filled the boy's entire body and there was a little voice screaming at him to run. To get the hell out of this deadly place. But his feet didn't move and his body refused to listen to him. In a moment Danny was kicked to the ground, and he felt a chill once again and something tightened around his neck as he fell to the Earth. It sent him gasping for air, his windpipe feeling as if it was crushed.

Desperately, Danny began trying to pull at the rope that was around his neck, but he didn't feel it, there was nothing there. Still, that didn't stop his instincts to stop trying. The boy's mind being split between survival and freaking out. The world was beginning to blacken at the edges of his vision. His body burned and yet he was losing feeling all at the same time. How was that possible, Danny silently asked himself as he gasped for any air that he could get. It was getting harder and harder to stay awake, to try and get away from whoever, or whatever, was trying to kill him. There was so much pressure behind his face that he felt as if his eyes would pop and that his neck would break. Blurry tears fell down his cheeks which obscured his already failing vision.

How could he be so stupid? Why did he come here alone? Why did he even come here at all? Was this really worth finding out the truth? No, because it would die with him. Danny's mind was racing with many foggy thoughts. He knew that this was it, that there was no escape from his demise. He just prayed to God that if this didn't die with him, that whoever picked up where he left off would be safe. That they wouldn't deal with the dangers he faced.

As his vision closed and his thoughts became nothing but mud, he heard the laughter from the figure behind him. "You should have brought your friends Danny. But you had to be the hero didn't you?" The darkness was coming quickly, which was a relief to the raven-hair boy. "Now you will die, failing to protect anyone. You will die a loser just like you were in life." The laughter echoed, it was deep and malicious, something he had never heard before. Danny couldn't hold on anymore, releasing one final, desperate gasp of air, his vision tunneled before going dark.

The boy's body slacked and in the silence of the corpse of Danny Fenton, laughter echoed in the eternal silence.
