warning: none, just some creepy-ish vibes.

𝗜𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗦 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗗𝗗𝗟𝗘 𝗢𝗙 the night when jungwon received a call from a unknown number; picking up only to realize it was from his girlfriend, her sobs immediately woke him up. "baby what happened?" he asked frantically, getting up from his bed and quickly putting on a pair of sweats. "can you please come over?" the girl's quiet crying voice responds, piercing a hole through jungwon's heart.
"okay hold on, i'll be right there. wait for me okay?" jungwon said in a soft voice, trying his best not to hurt the girl more. through the night full of darkness, the moon hidden behind dark storm clouds. the only source of light was the headlights of jungwon's motorcycle as he zoomed down the streets; the rain pouring onto his leather jacket, the more he pressed onto the gas pedal the harder the rain poured down onto him.
once he saw the apartment complex in his view, he pressed on the gas pedal harder until the loud roar of his motorcycle overpowered the rain drops slamming against the street ground. he left his motorcycle at the entrance before entering the complex, taking out his phone and calling his girl again, but she didn't pick up. "she used the lobby phone?" jungwon mumbled to himself, walking to the side where he saw her.
"hari?" jungwon's voice called out, causing the girl to quickly turn around at the sound of the familiar voice. "wonnie.." hari mumbles as jungwon came over and embraced her, her head against his chest. "what happened? why'd you call me?" he asked softly, holding the shaky girl in his arms.
"i-i was taking the trash out"—she took a deep breath—"and some guy who just moved in on my floor was in the stairs-" before hari could say more jungwon cut her off, "why would you take the stairs?" he asked, not getting her actions. "the elevator was out of order, it was written on a paper taped to the closed doors." she explained, looking at him through her wet lashes.
"go on.." jungwon taps her cheek with his index finger, gesturing for hari to continue her explanation. "so.. i was going to the stairs, and the new guy was in it too and- and he was talking to someone and bumped into me,"—she paused, taking a breath before going on. "and i fell down the stairs.. but when i looked up he was gone." hari finished, looking up at jungwon as his gaze darkened.
"wait here," he said, taking off his coat and wrapping it around her. he stepped back busy with his phone as he called someone. in a bit, jay walked into the apartment complex, walking towards the couple with a serious look on his face. "you go check upstairs, i'll stay with her.." jay says, pulling hari to the lobby couch.
──────── upstairs...
jungwon looked around the dimly lit hallway, "shitty ass building.." he muttered, looking at the stairs and checking if it was clear or not. eventually he gave up, groaning as he walked towards the elevator and muttered cuss words under his breath, pressing the button which called for the elevator.
as the doors opened and presented the elevator box he froze, "it's working.." he mumbled, quickly looking around the walls as there was no 'out-of-order' sign. he gulped as his heart dropped. "it's working?" he asked himself before entering the elevator and pressing the fourth floor button-just to test.
when the elevator doors closed and creaked as it went down the floor easily, jungwon furrowed his eyebrows in confusion before pressing the fifth floor button again. the elevator doors closed, creaking once more as it went up to the fifth floor with ease. jungwon slowly walked out of the elevator, taking out his phone and calling jay.
"so.. yeah, bring hari up. the elevator is working.." jungwon said before hanging up and leaning against her apartment door. downstairs, jay guided hari to the elevator, his hand on hari's shoulder gently. "jungwon-ah's probably gonna stay over the night, so don't worry." jay's deep voice comforted her gently, patting her shoulder once.
hari was sore, her head hurt and she walked with her head down since she was so drowsy. she didn't look around, too in her head to look around at the moment. but jay did it for her. he kept quiet, but in the peripheral of jay's eye he was staring. xu minghao.
