"Hey, this is Nat, it's been a week, please.. please just.. let me know you're ok.." I say, before hanging up.
I scroll for a while, hoping for a call.
I get a notification and for a second hope it's a text from Mia.
"Reminder: Power-bank Can Rot." It's an event I set.. today is supposed to be the final ruling on Whether power-bank will rot in a cell for what's left of his miserable life.
A couple hours go by, as I'm stopping a bank robbery.
I Punch the Robber, sending him crashing through the windows. I'm not holding back as much. I mean I'm not going full force, but right now..
I knock another out, as well as giving them a black eye. But something the radio said caught my attention
"This just in, Authorities are racing to the scene as The Ex Hero known as Burst is attacking, and seems to be looking for someone" the reporter says. I Lift off, Faster. Shit! Mia!
a Car is flying towards civilians. NO! Beams of Heat fire from my eyes, cutting the Car. "Mia! Stop this! Please… I don't want to fight you.." I say. "Stay out of my way! You're on the wrong side Firework! My parents are dead because his bomb went off!" She says.. she's right, but killing him just skips his punishment. He can't be punished if he's dead.
"We're not executioners! You're only doing him a favor by killing him! Killing him won't bring them back!" I say.
"1 life to Save hundreds more! Isn't it our job to save people?" She says. "That's a slippery slope! And who decides which lives are worth taking in the long run?" I say.
"please…. Don't make me your enemy" she says. I hate this! I don't want her to be against me.. but I can't let her kill people.
"Just one time! One time don't play the hero.." she says
"Please…" she says. I'm angry, sad, I feel betrayed..
"I'm sorry… I won't let you go down this path…" I say.. I'm fighting the urge to cry.
"Then I'm sorry.. truly… but he needs to pay." She says. With a loud snap, she breaks his neck. She Punches me, sending me into a car. I push myself out, the metal bending. Her fist Barely misses my head.
"Please… I don't want to fight you, but I can't let you get in my way.." she says…
I kick her, holding back a lot, and it doesn't even phase her. I'm used to holding back, but it's Mia! I for some reason held back more. She looks at me confused.. I reach My hand at, and rip the door off the car, swinging it at her. It bends around her, but it does knock her back.
"It doesn't matter! They already fear me! They look at me like I'm some cornered animal!"
She launches into me, pushing me onto the ground. She Punches me, once, twice, three times, I can feel My blood run down my chin. My eyes swell, my nose starts Gushing blood..
"WHY ARE YOU MAKING ME DO THIS!? I TOOK 1 LIFE TO SAVE POSSIBLY HUNDREDS MORE! THAT'S THE GOAL OF OUR JOB RIGHT? THE REASON WE WEAR THE MASKS AND COSTUMES?” She asks… looking at me… seemingly realizing what she's doing is wrong.. or maybe that's just the optimism in me.. “I… I'm sorry.." she says. My vision Fades, as she flies off, shaking the ground from the force of her taking off.
