Chapter 1- The Inferno

Hey everyone, I'm new to all this and this is my first time actually posting a story I'm writing. So please comment about the book and thanks to that_one_redneck for helping me with the name of this book! Chapter 1: The Inferno

The black smoke surrounds me blocking all of my senses as I start to fade slowly and crys for help ring in the air. The inferno starts to slowly finally consume everything insight getting closer and closer to me. Just as my vision blurs a cry of a wolf meets my ears before I collapse to the ground unable to move, hear or see. I feel something or someone drag my body out of the fire to the safety of other people. Just as I am about to pass out I hear someone speak, "Alpha, the ambulance is on it's way with the packs doctor inside of it ready to help you. We have no..." The last part is cut of as I drift into my dark dreary unconsciousness.

*Hours later*

My eyes flutter open to see bright lights above me. I glance around unable to remember anyhing that happened and I roll my head to the side to see a group of strange people huddled outside of the room. I try to sit up slowly flincing as my back flares in pain and I slowly lay back down on the bed still in pain. I hold my hands up to my eye level see burnt skin and I start to cry closing my eyes trying to stop crying as someone runs in to the room. "Are you okay? What's wrong," a male voice says and I turn my head to look at him with tears in my eyes blue in my vision . "W-where am I-I," I ask still crying as my memory slowly starts to come back to me replaying everything that happened that day....

*flash back*

A short girl with strait short brown hair that goes down to her shoulder and freckles across her nose as well as her cheeks. She runs over to me smiling as her hazel eyes mixed with the many tips of green, blue and brown sparkle with happiness. I smile at her happy to see her as she hugs me and I hug her back. "Hey hunty! How was the last day of school for you," I say chuckling as she punches my arm sticking her tongue out at me. "How do you think it was? I couldn't stop looking at the clock all day and I'm so glad it's finally over," she says sighing in relieved and she pulls her keys out of her small purse jingling them as she smirks at me. I laugh taking the keys from her and we both walk to my car. I unlock the doors before we both get inside and I look at her smiling before me both shout, "summer time!!" We both burst out laughing as I start the car driving out of the school parking lot. Hunty smiles as she turns up the radio as Smile by Uncle Kracker comes on. "Best song ever," she says shouting over the radio and I laugh as I turn at the stop light driving out of town towards the woods. As we drive through the woods listening to the radio I notice a black cloud in the sky that is near the pack house and I glance at hunty worried. She looks back at me turning the radio of before she saying suirously, "drive faster. That dark cloud looks like smoke and it look like it's coming from the pack house too". I start driving faster to the pack house hoping everything is alright. I quickly shift the car into park as we pull into the driveway and I look up at the pack house to see fire spreading towards it. Unlocking the doors of the car I quickly run inside shoving the door open. "Everyone get out of the house! There is a fire coming quickly," I say as people scramble to their feet and they all nod before running off to get everyone out of the house. Hunty runs inside looking around confused and looks at me, "did you already warn them about the fire?" I nod and I grab some of the keys to the other cars throwing them to here. "Yes I did give the keys to the others and tell them to fill every car. Tell them to drive everyone to the town and let the other alpha know what's happening so they don't think we are trespassing into their territory. You can take my car I'm going to help the others and ill meet you at the other alpha's house," I say quickly as it starts to get hotter every minute and I sniff the air to smell the smoke getting stronger. She nods to me running off to the others distributing the keys to pack members I run through the pack house to make sure everyone everyone got out safely. I run up stairs to make sure everyone is out for sure and I walk inside if a room to find a girl hidding. I walk over to her shaking her shoulder and she blinks up at me sleepily. "Katie why aren't you with the others," I ask confused and unsure why no one found her before now. She yawns and starts coughing, "I-I was asleep." I sigh and pick her up grab in a blanket covering her face to keep the smoke away from her as it gets even thicker each second. I turn towards the door just as it falls down burning revealing the huge fire behind the door way. The fire creeps towards us slowly and I start coughing. I step back avoiding the fire and I look at the window. I grab a chair with one of my hands as I hold Katie in the other and I throw the chair at the window breaking it open. I look out the window to see a group of guys below waving their hands at me and I look at Katie who is coughing even more then before. "Throw her down and will catch her! Then you can jump safely to the ground," a man shouts up to me as the unfold a blanket to catch her in. I look at Katie as she holds onto my shirt crying. I grab her hand as the fire gets closer and I feel the fire starts burning me slowly. I throw her to the people below and I watch them catch her in the blanket as the fire start to burn my back. I flinch in pain as I try to put the fire out and the floor gives out from underneath me. I fall down two floors to the ground floor and wood falls on top of me. Traping me below it and the black smoke surrounds me slowly blocking all of my senses. I start to cry for help hearing people running around the house looking for a way to get to me and the fire surrounds me slowly burning me once more as I start to slowly fade into unconsciousness.

*end of flash back*

I blink clearing my vision to see a guy with brown shaggy hair covering his dark brown hazel eyes looking at me worried. I blink at him speechless realizing that he is the alpha's son who is going to become the Dark Night pack's next alpha. "Uh.. Where am I," I ask him shyly as I try hidding from him and he smirks. "Well your at my packs house and our pack dotor said your burns should heal soon," he says shrug as if nothing was wrong and he sits down in a chair beside my bed. I look at him curiously opening my mouth to ask him a question and the door falls down onto the ground. Hunty runs over to me hugging me tightly making me flinch again and she looks at me angrily, "Don't you dare do that again! I will kick your ass if you think of trying it again missy! Although thank you for saving my little sister for me, Scarlett." I smile weakly at her nodding and she looks at the guy noding slightly. "Hello, Seth.. I hear your going to become Alpha around the same time Scarlett's wounds are going to be heals completely and she will be back to normal," she says quietly and he nods silently watching us both. "Your correct I inherit it when I turn 18. Which is only on a few days like you said but that's also going to be the time when ill find out who is my mate of she is from here. If not I may meet her when I have to meet the other alpha's and their packs to make alliances with them as well as renew a few of them," he says smiling charmingly at us both and hunty rolls her eyes before she stops hugging me. "Nice little trick but that doesn't work on every girl like you hope it does and ill be back as soon as I let our pack know our to be Alpha is awake now," she says turning away and steps over the door she knocked down earlier. Leaving the both of us in the room together looking at each other unsure of what to say.
