Chapter 7 - Heart connection
When Sai returned to her cabin after a lengthy operation, she found her husband there, busy on his laptop while sipping coffee. She smiled seeing him and savored this moment. "He is her home," she thought. Despite many years of marriage and being parents to three wonderful kids, their love still remained as strong as ever, often making them feel like teenage lovers.
Virat sensed his lovely wife's presence and looked towards her. Sai smiled, but seeing his sad eyes, her smile faltered. She quickly went beside him and sat, pulling a chair in front of him. "How was the meeting? Any problems? Was she fine?" Virat's selfless wife's care for everyone still amazed him. He affectionately looked towards her and told her everything.
She felt a relief that things were as per planned; nothing went wrong. But still, her husband's sad face hinted at something troubling him. She needed to address the issue so he could relax.
She called her juniors to handle other appointments and clear her schedule for the day. Then, she asked her husband to go to one of their properties nearby so they could spend some quality time together. They loved their family, but sometimes they needed moments alone.
Virat understood the reason behind his wife's sudden intention of spending time with her husband, canceling her appointments, and handing her dearest patients to her juniors. They understood each other just by having a look.
Soon they went to one of their penthouses. With the caretaker's assistance, Sai quickly prepared Virat's favorite item for lunch. After lunch, they went to their favorite spot in the house, the balcony, and sat together.
Virat's nerves also calmed down after getting his love, his wife, in his arms, and he started talking. He talked about his discomfort of attending Patralekha's wedding without her and their kids. "Kids love to enjoy such occasions, and here I will go to attend a wedding without them," he expressed.
Sai cupped his face and said, "It's not our family occasion, or you are going to enjoy the occasion leaving them. It's your duty to be there for the man who saved my and our sons' lives in the time of our crisis. He has done his duty as a friend, a good human being, to be there for us whenever it was needed and always supported us in thick and thin. He never told us also about this problem of his marriage and about Patralekha as he never wanted to disturb or live. Isn't it out of time to get him happily ever after?"
"Rakesh has proven himself a great friend over time. After he came to know about you and me, he left aside his prejudice regarding me and came around, becoming our ally. I still remember it was his blood which saved you and our twins during the blood loss at the time of delivery. He came forward when it was necessary. Then also, he has been with us over the years; he considered you as a sister. But the thing is, will it be his happily ever after? Will she ever consider him as her husband?"
"She is going through this marriage that I will stop her wedding at a point in time, but it will never happen. When she will understand this, she will search for other ways to come out of this marriage. I have bound her for three years with a contract to give him time to prove to her how much he loves her. But still, is it a way?" Sai put her head on his shoulder and said, "There was no other way; you did it right. I wish after staying with him for this long, she will understand and will grow feelings for him also."
Virat put his head above hers and said, "I also wish so. One more thing is bothering me, that is hiding my marital status. I really want to say that I am a family man, happily married, love my wife and children. But I promised Patil uncle that I will not disclose. He played with me, the father of a daughter card, and melted there."
Sai smiled naughtily this time and said, "You promised not Minakshi Di. Hopefully, she will also be invited there to the wedding." Virat also smiled at the mention of Minakshi, who was introduced to him as Patralekha's childhood best friend, but now she is more Sai's friend than Patralekha's. She really cares for them a lot. His Sai really knows magic to pull people towards her side.
After all these tensions and worries were sorted, Virat pulled Sai onto his lap for some romance, and the couple forgot the world. Few hours later, their romantic moments were broken by the ring of Virat's phone.
I know I am late actually too much late to post. I was trying to write man stories together so I went blank. Now I decided I will end one and then continue other. and I promise to post regular from now on.
