The road to my life

It's as if I'm trying to hit every bump in the road

...literally and figuratively

The rain glistens on the windshield like the tears on my glasses. Obscuring my vision from the hateful world around me.

And when I wipe away the tears i see the aspens that line the road. Their leaves fluttering in the breeze as if they're my friends waving to me, encouraging me to continue on my journey.

They give me the strength to carry around the twists and turns. And when I make it around the bend, I'm in a barren wasteland. I see the paths of the hungry fires that fed on the helpless forest.

But even among sadness, there's hope. Peeking out of the dead and blacked rubble, are tiny little flowers. The delicate lives flourishing in the barren expanse and regrowing a new generation.

And just when I thought I was the only one following this road, I pass someone else. And they wave to me, as if they're reassuring me that it gets better.

And if I get lost then all I gotta do is find the signs. If you look close enough, you'll find them and know exactly what to do.

You've also gotta watch out, 'cos you never know when something might jump out in front of you. And even though they look innocent and harmless, they can do a lot of damage.

I know when I'm going downhill because it gets going too fast, too soon. So, sometimes you've gotta put your foot on the brake and slow it down.

But there's no speed limit to life, so I guess I'd better enjoy the ride before I run into a dead end.
