alexa walked downstage after a sound check to go get water from the green room. she felt weird, mainly because she hadn't worn her boots, that made the usual sound when she moved. but also, there was another deeper, sinking feeling. it wasn't sadness or stage fright. it was the feeling that she got when she knew something was up. that there was something that she didn't know. she knew that trusting her gut was what she should do, but she didn't. she got this feeling whenever her life felt good. whenever she felt good. she just knew something would ruin it. she came out of her thoughts and kept walking.
she heard muffled sounds coming from the green room, but she just walked in. and it was like her soul came out of her body. every single time she thought back to that moment, it didn't feel real. her best friend and her boyfriend were kissing. the boy who told her that she was the only one, and the girl she trusted with her life, were kissing, and they loved each other. and usually, she would yell, and scream, and cry, but all she could do, was walk out. and she didn't even realize she was crying until tears fell from her eyes.
"lexie, wait, i can explain!" amelia yelled, across the parking lot. and she didn't turn around. there were cars running and speeding through the street, and alexa crossed it. in fact she didn't care if one of those cars ran over her and she died. what would be a life worth living if he didn't love her? she turned around. "please don't waste your breath, because there's nothing you can say. you can't explain. you can't."
and she ran. where? who knows. but she ran until her lungs felt like they were going to collapse from inhaling the cold air.
