Nervously knocking on the grand doors of the Palais Mermonia, you heard a deep voice granting you entry. You entered, pushing the doors carefully as they led you into a vast, bright hall. Fontaine is so beautiful and refreshing, you remarked mentally. Your eyes fell upon a man writing on parchment with urgency it seemed, yet you thought he looked more like a chiselled statue of heaven. He's so stunning that it's intimidating.
"Erm sorry to disturb you! It's my first day as an intern and I'm supposed to be working under the supervision of the Chief Justice - do you know where I can find him?" you asked politely, voice quiet as you tried your best to not stutter. His eyes were really piercing ahh!
The pale-faced, sharp-eyed man gave you a soft, small smile.
"Well, you will be glad to know that your search ends here. I am the Chief Justice, and the Iudex of Fontaine," he calmly answered, scrutinising your reaction. Eyes widening, you abruptly began to bow, apologetic.
"Oh! Do forgive me Chief Justice Sir, I truly didn't know! Please excuse my mistake!"
"Ah, no need to apologise. It is perfectly fine. So, has the front desk assigned you with your first task?" The Chief Justice asked. You nodded and glanced down at the essay question in your hands.
"Write a 2000 word report on how successful Sumeru has been in setting up businesses in Fontaine..." your voice trailed off as you realised the extent of research this would require, but you knew you needed to power through this unpaid internship for now.
"That sounds to be an excellent first task....I'm sorry I didn't ask you for your name!"
"Y/N. And yes, I'll begin..." You turned your head as you glanced around, puzzled as to where to work. Suddenly, your gaze snapped downwards as the Chief Justice gently plucked the papers you carried from your grasp, and he gracefully moved towards a smaller, silver desk beside his grand one.
"I hope this place is suitable, Y/N? It also makes it much easier for me to assist you if required."
You nodded and rushed over, sitting down with poise and commencing your research.

As the day progressed, you would ask the Chief Justice questions about your task once in a while, which led to rather meaningful discussions. Neuvillette noticed both your intelligence and diligence. Not only this, despite his insistence upon you to take breaks as needed, you had not taken a single one.
Peeking out from your colossal pile of papers, you squinted at the clock, and your eyes widened.
"Apologies for my disturbance Chief Justice, but it is 10pm and we have not had our dinner break at all! If it is okay, may I take a 15 minute dinner break?"
Neuvillette glanced up and gave you a kind smile.
"Of course, Y/N. You have worked so hard, please, do take a long dinner break and then go home for the night." Hearing his words, you give Neuvillette a long, knowing smile, before you bow and exit the office. A mere fifteen minutes later, you swiftly move back to your desk, placing a small tray on Neuvillette's desk. The gentle thud of the tray piqued his interest, as his attention turned towards the food.
"Y/N, you are back already? And what is this?" Neuvillette asked, curiously.
"Well Sir, I had a light dinner. I noticed that you have had neither lunch nor have risen for dinner. So I brought back this small tray of nutritious food to keep your energy up! As for my task, I am almost halfway, then I will return home."
Softly smiling at the food, Neuvillette took a moment to process his work status.
"I believe I will also be in a suitable position to return home too, Y/N. Thank you for the food, I appreciate your kindness."

As he watched you return to work, Neuvillette had to admit to himself - he was moved by your diligence and kindness, and how you held your career in such high regard. Not only that, but your child-like innocence impressed him.
